Anybody pass emisions without a cat?

Anybody pass emisions without a cat?

I might be selling my evo to a buddy down in austin TX and he would need to have it checked for emissions or whatever you call it. anyways, has anybody changed there tune so that they could pass the sniffer test?

Without a cat, no way. Throw a stocker cat on there for the test, then take it back off. it's only 4 bolts.

the sniffer test? Idk about nebraska but pa only uses that on OBD I cars. All OBD II cars are now test electronically through the OBD port. I Pass the Emissions test w/o a cat. idk why you would still have to do the meter in the tail pipe routine

sti this is right... the exhaust test is only performed on older cars... now a days they kist connect to obd port and if you are not throwing codes you pass...

Here in TN we are required to have cats also and I have passed every year with the test pipe on and the high flow cat in the trunk......

I would put the stock cat on but I have a vishnu downpipe/racepipe combo that has a v-band on one end

so there is no tuning tricks like leaning out the idle or anything like that?

I"d say to get one of these universal ones
Then weld on some straight pipe to fill the space and a V-band on one end!

One method to pass the OBDII check is to put the sparkplug antifouler inbetween the O2 and exhaust stream, but it won't pass a sniffer check.
