28.8 is max advance ... -1.2 is max retard (minimum value).

Really? I copied it directly from the 88590015

But I can see it in the map below ... which is only 19 columns ... tell me there are two versions of the MIVEC map too.

newb question...
I tried out the new map smoothing version w/ the Mivec tonight... Boy does my Mivec "look" like it needs to be smoothed. Im noticing that its retarding my values quite a bit... My question what is the benefit of smoothing this table? Will smoother necessarily be better, or net me higher #'s w/ this map? I understand the concept w/ the timing maps and fuel, but not exactly familiar w/ Mivec...

How many times do you smooth it? I did about 30 copy/pastes into that excel to resmooth before it finally stabilized.

Wait a sec ... that is a timing table up there there ... [sigh] ok so it is 20 col I shouldn't work this late after playing soccer. I'll fix it tomorrow but I am still confused on what the stock load numbers are. Apparently I'm looking at 88590015-v5.10 which I got from the Wiki download section. Is that one perhaps using modded load values compared to the stock map?

EVO IX EDM 2006:

- VVT Map1 Horizontal: 0,10,20,30,40.....260,280
Vertical: 500,750,1000, 1250, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000... and it goes from 500 to 500 till 7000

ok so the point is, they are both 16x20 right?

.... well then I'm going readjust the table to have it starting at 10 since I'm betting that is more common on this board; if that is not true I'm willing to go the other direction. So all you IX EDM folks need to do is relabel the load/rpm values if you don't want to be confused. They don't actually impact the smoothing.

You don't have to copy/paste until there are no changes in the map ... 2-3 iterations should be more than enough in most cases (depending on the original map). Smoothing too many times could bring down or increase values that really should have stayed the same.

Holy jeez, you really went to town on my spreadsheet! haha!

I like what you have done with the spreadsheet. Funny how when
I originally created it, I only used it to look at the colors, literally.

It is easier to see what is going on when you have colors than
looking at a sea of numbers.

After a while, I eventually stopped using it because I was getting
really good at smoothing it myself without the aid of a graph. Kinda
like the Matrix, at first you see the green code, then after some time
you see the woman in the red dress! Woot.

Nice Job Jumper. Took it a lot farther than I ever would have.

BTW Tkkle, that worksheet has also helped with my ECU based boost control tuning. I had a pretty solid TBEC table worked out, but I decided to see how it would look in graph form. It was okay, but I made some tweaks based on the curve I wanted and it works even better now. No clue why I never thought to graph it before.

Excellent! When I originally did the boost control thing using the stock BCS, I used excel to get it tuned correctly. I wrote a couple of formulas and what not, and eventually got Excel to tell me what I should set my values to.

It's amazing how when something is put in picture form how much easier it is to comprehend.
