I have OpenPort 2.0 cables ready to go, at this stage I will say Yes I will definately be supporting it.
But if you want laptop free operations, the following may surprise you, and maybe a better option for you depending on your requirements...
I have developed a new Full Colour 4.3" (optional 7.0"inch) LCD EvoScan/EcuFlash device that can work with Openport 1.3U cables (without the need for a laptop)
The cost of the Full Colour LCD EvoScan/EcuFlash device will be appox $235. Which includes builtin EvoScan/EcuFlash/GPS/MP3/MP4 Video player/Reversing camera port/SD card logging/SD card ecu reflashing. etc.
Openport1.3U Cable($89) + EvoScan/EcuFlash LCD device combo options will be available.
Openport2.0 Cable($159) + EvoScan/EcuFlash LCD device combo options will also be available.
Cool new photos of the standalone LCD device will be posted this week.

interesting idea, although to be honest, I am also working on an iPhone version of EvoScan.
my Full Colour EvoScan LCD device only has 1 USB port, so if you unplugged the logger cable you could plug in your iPhone or iPod USB cable to charge it or play songs from it.
I wonder if I could use a USB Hub with it too!, lol, hmm, you will definately be connecting up a 12v power supply for all this lol, the poor lcd device battery would struggle You can even unplug the GPS LCD device loaded with some local Google maps and take it bush walking/hunting with you, lasts around 2-3 hours on battery mode.

Sounds awesome. I can't wait to see this device. I just bought a 7" VGA touchscreen so I could put up all the evoscan gauges and stick the laptop under the seat, but I may have to return it depending on what your device looks like.
Any more specs on the device?
Will you be able to pull up an evoscan gauge dash on your device? Will it be running a standard operating system?

Hamish - Can you give us any more info on the EvoScan LCD device? The Openport 2.0 supposedly will be released in the next couple of days or next week and if your device is everything you say it is, I may hold off on getting the openport 2.0. Are those photos you were talking about ready?

Great. Thanks. Let us know when they're up. This is the only place that I heard about the new device and I'd like to find out more about it.
my 7" VGA touchscreen arrives today and I'm trying to figure out whether to open it or return it
