Either way I am amazed the car isn't knocking with 14.8 AFR @ 26psi

Maybe a dumb question but how old is the O2? We seem to get about a year or so out of them on straight E85. What was the narrowband voltage if you were logging it at the same time? .9165v usually ends up about where you want to be...no leanrer than .897 though. This is based on comparison with my WB (visually) and the NB for logging only.

I would say with 88% IDC at only 5400rpm something is impeding flow though.

Haha yea I checked all that right away. 0.74 on narrowband.

The car also feels like crap at 14.8

I pulled the fuel assembly today. Sock looks ok. However the filter, which is inside the whole white plastic assembly looks pretty dark, hard to tell since the plastic is almost opaque. I'm going to order a new one. I wish Evos had fuel filters like the DSM's did, much cheaper. Evo filter is $100+.

I also check both sides of the tank. Everything looks brand new. Super clean.

Btw, most people don't know the fuel filter is actually part of that whole white pump assembly. I didn't know either until buschur brought it up in a thread. I thought he was full of BS until I looked at mine more carefully and checked the service manual. This also means the Full Blown Double pumper has no fuel filter, you would need to install an inline one.

Well, turns out it was the fuel filter.

$110 later, swapped a new whole fuel filter assembly in and the AFR's are back to normal.

I compared the two and the original one was *much* darker. I'm going to try and cut it apart this week and look inside.

That would be very useful info for the community. No way to hack the stock assembly and install an inline filter sassembly? That waould save people a lot of time and money in the future.

Did the FP whine all the time. Mine does that when it's hot.

I heard you can get dirty fuel if you fill up while the tanker is refueling because it stirs up all the settled debris. Good to know

They allll whine. Its true about the tanker creating sediment in the mix.

FWIW, there is another fuel filter on the other side of the gas tank.

That isn't a primary feed line filter though.

Yup, it's a very fine mesh one that probably filters less than the sock on the fuel pump.

I checked that as well and it looked brand new.

Everything in the tank, the tank walls itself and all the components look brand new. The E85 really cleans the car out.

Its interesting that it cleans up the fuel system so much. As far a solvents go, its a pretty weak solvent. Constant exposure of the fuel system to ethanol must be playing a big role.

Well I never really took a huge gander at the fuel tank pre E85 so not really sure how much it's cleaned visually.

All I know is that my fuel filter was dirty at only 52k miles.
