FIC 1150 injector latency times but what does it mean?

Your thinking I'm a moron right? You might be right on some examples but hear me out.

Got my FIC 1150's in today (not 1050's, I do mean 1150's) and I was pleased to see that they are now providing injector latency times with them. However at the different voltages (10, 12, 14, and finally 16 vdc) they have both an opening response time AND an injector closing response time.

My question is that the stock ecu only has one value for latency not two (opening/closing). With respect to how the code in the ecu is ran is it looking for opening latency, closing latency, or the difference between the two (in essence you'd be inputting the net delay that the injector would not be on).

Here are the numbers:

...........................10V............12V..... ....14V...........16V
Opening...........1.38ms.....1.13ms....0.97ms.... 0.88ms
Closing............ 0.99ms.....1.00ms....1.01ms....1.02ms

My assumption is that the ecu is concerned with the opening delay and the closing delay almost seems fixed at 1.00 ms. However does the ecu compensate for closing delay in the code and do we know where it is at so that we can edit it for better large injector performance!

No idea- MrFred has done a lot of work on latencies so hopefully he knows

Latency = (open time) - (close time).

However, the open times listed here are really fast for these injectors, so my suspicion is that Jens measured these open and close times using a peak & hold injector driver setup instead of with a modified saturated setup that Mitsubishi uses for the Evo. I've just sent an email to Jens to find out whether my suspicion is correct, but at any rate, these values are of no use to you. Best thing you can do is start with my values (or someone elses FIC 1050 values) because FIC 1150s are actually FIC 1050s that flowed faster than the target spec range for FIC 1050s. The latency for the FIC 1150s will be slightly higher than for the 1050s... maybe 5% higher, and of course the injector scaling should be around 5-10% higher than 1050s.

I'm going to curve them from scratch. Its not anything that I haven't done before. If you look though the open latency closely matches your latencies for your 1050's which seems odd huh?

The close times for peak & hold and modified saturated drivers are usually pretty similar. The reason is that in both instances, all that's happening is that the power to the injector is being cut. A saturated setup will have a bit more residual energy in the injector coil winding, but the fuel pressure is the major driving force for closure under normal operating conditions.

Yeah but isn't it weird that the open times are close to the latencies that you found to work well for you 1050's?
