why doesn't logger log/connect when powered by its own internally battery and not connected to the cig lighter?

Yeah this would be a good patch as mine will only work when power is connected to the cig power point.

 

Also i need some help can you reset the logger so it clears current memory as i think i've tried to tick to many boxes for the gauges and now the gauges don't funciton?

Also i have an engine light that pops up and when i plug the device in and try to find the code it says its clear when really the engine light is on. I haven't used it much and only have experience previously with Vag-Com, all help appreciated or a link detail with the same issues for beginners.

 

You could always hardwire it.

Undo the end of the plug and solder two wires to the contacts, remember to keep the circuitry inside the plug as it drops the voltage to 5V. Then just solder into your switched live behind the head unit.

 

thats because the external openport USB cable requires a 5 volt power source on the 4wire connector.. and the units mini usb port is a 5v charge input, not a 5v output for usb.

 

Are you talking about in the gauge options menu?? That menu is currently inop. Do you mean while logging none of the gauges give reading?? Also to change the displayed parameters you have to do so in the Gauge Templates/Template2 file in EvoScanPPC folder. I'm not sure exactly what you mean is not working.

 

yeah, did you delete or edit the template2.txt file by accident? take a photo and send it to the evoscan help desk.

 

UPDATE: 1.3D cable is currently InOp in v1.7 - will look into this, first glance appears to be because it shares the same USB vid/pid as serial convertor cables. so I need to find a way of identifying them uniquely.

UPDATE: EvoScanPPC v1.8 has just been released, two features added:
- Subaru SSMII for op1.3R/op1.3U
- New "Show Readings" checkbox option, so that you can view the Readings on the main screen again if you like it. Leaving it unticked will csv log and gauge display twice as fast. (work in progress to fix up the Show Readings that slows things down - first glance appears to be the slow microsoft listview control on windows ce, might have to implement my own highspeed list view control)

FAQ UPDATED: The Wideband USB to serial cable has to be FTDI chipset based. (The Prolific chipset based serial cable will only work with evoscan on the desktop, it will not work on the PPC edition (its because Prolific have no windows ce drivers for their cable)

Will 2.7 allow us to pull DTC codes using a OpenPort 2.0 cable?
