Having a strange knock issue

Ok well to make a long story short, I was tuning an evo 9 the other day and everything was going smooth. We did a few third gear pulls and there was no knock. Now when we are driving around, if you barely just get on the gas the knock sum shoots way up and maxes out at 36. Theres no way this can be real knock right? The car isnt throwing any codes, and I also checked for leaks. ANy ideas?
Is it possible the knock sensor took a crap?

thanks

-nick

If pulling timing or adding fuel doesn't help, you are probably seeing the dreaded partial throttle knock that so many of us are trying to resolve. Fortunately, it sounds like the ECU guru's are closing in on a solution.

Yeah ive tried pulling tons of timing and adding fuel and it doesnt effect anything. Everything was fine, then out of the blue it started doing this. If you get into any boost it just knocks like crazy.

what are the mods? Can you hear anything mechanically knocking (like the DP or exhaust)?

one thing i would try, if you can, is roll back the rom to a version that didn't knock. See if it stops.
