Rom 88840013 swop with another updated rom???
Hi Guys,
Did someone managed to swop 88840013 ROM version with another ROM version like 88840016 or 88840017?
I drive EVO9 EDM 2006 , 6speed with following mods:
Short ram intake system with headers and sport filter
Exhaust system is Milltek with the pipe diameter of 3.00”(76,20mm) tailpipe 100mm
Intake "W/Intercooling piping” kit system Injen
HKS Super SQV (Super Sequential Blow Off Valve)
Exhaust insulating wrap by Thermo-Tec
HKS EIDS Idling Stabilizer
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
88840013 ROM was USDM version.
Did U swop 88840013 ROM with another ROM version?

I`m trying to keep up with all the posts here but still I have much to read.
In order to update my 88840013 or to switch to ROM 88840017 can I flash it directly into my ECU with my immobilizer code.....or I must use the same tehnique explained in your Tephra V5 Mod thread? (How to MOD your ROM with NLTS or others!)
I must wait a newer definition in XML format for 88840017 and change my ROM existing definition file??
Without facing much trouble means that I will be able to do it without reading all the pages from this EVOm forum???

Your version 88840017 V5.5 or 88840017 V5 remains still bugged?

start by upgrading to the normal (nonmoded) version of 88840017.
just change the immobiliser code and you should be ok...
once your happy that works then you can try the tephramod.
V6 is out for 88840017, technically its still under test but its confirmed working (so far)...
ecuflash 1.41 should have good def's for 88840017!

It much easy for me now
I have from a friend 88840016 ROM and first I will try this map in order to see how the car is working.
I must follow some testing mods after I will switch the maps?I`m asking if I must be carefull with something......like max RPM or speed, gear ratio......etc.
How I will be able to see if the map is suitable for the car?
I must check some logs into Evoscan?
Anything that you can tell me it will be very good for me to do this test in the weekend.

Today I manage to switch between Roms and I flash 88840017 EDM version.
Everything was OK when I flash it.
I`ve done some test and the car seems fine.
I don`t have the same boost but seems that the car throttle is more linear and mostly above 5000 RPM`s. Under 3000 RPM`s I feel a little bit a higher turbo lag but maybe this is normal.
After the test I`ve tried to read some data about front o2 sensor with EVOSCAN but when I try to connect my laptop (Vista) and I press start datalogger one message appear (USB Cable Device Not Responding).
I use "OpenPort 2.0 with Full Adapter Set". With Ecuflash everything worked fine but woth this, evan I change all the settings inside Windows for full control acces and switch to Administrator account still I was not able to pair the laptop with the car.
Do I need a special cable to use this program....another than Tactrix cable that I have????

Which min load are you talking about? the stock table or my tephramod table?
If you want to change your fuel table you REALLY need a Wideband 02 sensor to see what your current AFR is, then make SMALL changes to lean out the fuel map... This is all for WOT driving of course... cruising maintains stoich - ie 14.7:1 AFR...
TBEC tuning depends on your boost setup, are you using stock pills? are you using a GM3port? etc etc
If your OLD rom was untuned then the new one is fine to use as it too is "untuned"
Keep in mind the above points you have raised are VERY complex and pages could be written on each Do a lot of reading and ask lots of Q's
ps - whereabouts in EU are you?

I`m talking about stock table.
I want to use your mode but I was not able to find a table for 88840017 version in your mods.The only one that I found was "bugged" as far that I know.
I read a lot on this forum about all that you and more guys are doing for this EVO comunity. I recieve just too much new informations after readings.
I will order a Wideband O2 sensor to check my AFR. I understand know what you are saying. When the care is at the idle or in cruising is using the maps from the ECU and when we are in WOT driving it`s all about the O2 sensor....right??
No I don`t have a 3 port GM boost solenoid on my car in order to control the boost. I`m using stock pills....So you are sayng that I can`t made any boost setup only from the ECU settings.......using Ecuflash. The care will not understand the new values that I change inside the ROM.......
My ROM that I have is untunned at all.
So it`s better to stay with the ROM like this in stock version and not to make any modifications until I will have all the tools that I need.

1) you dont need to change the "min load for boost control" map
2) WOT = use fuel map, cruising = o2 sensor to maintain 14.7:1
3) You need to remove the pills to get any more boost, also installing a GM3port is a good way to get decent boost controll
4) You can tune your timing map a bit, but without a WB or a GM3port you can't really change fuel or boost...
You can use the 88840017 fine because you havn't tuned your car yet... So just copy the immob code over and you should be good to go
If you want my MOD's hten use V6 for 88840017 - its good to go, but maybe get used to ecuflash first b4 you try my mods out
