Ok I understand the 3 changes described in the first page of this thread. What I was wondering is this XML entry:

<table name="MUT Table" address="3efc0">
<table name="X" elements="16"/>
<table name="Y" elements="30"/>
</table>

Do I need to have this table defined in my rommetadata or change something in this table in the rom to make mode23 work? I saw SiC post this and thought maybe I need to do something related to this table?

Finally, last question.. Tephra, Sic was nice enough to send me an untouched 0018 rom which I can move to from 0016. Is there any concern I have about flashing my car with a different romid? Anything special I need to do or just flash it?

Dave,

Would I be right in assuming that the original config.txt file should be saved and used to revert the ecu back to stock (oem) image/cvn to prevent the dealers ability (or proposed ability) to identify modded ecu's?

tephra,

I assume this mode change is reversible by simply reloading an unmolested map?

I do that now... my question is does mode23 change anything on the original rom. Let me try to explain my thoughts....If I flash back to the stock rom and I have mode 23 active in the config.txt file, will that change the cvn/checksum?

Would it be smart to copy the original config.txt back over and then write the original rom back to the ecu?

config.txt is just for the logger.

the 3 XML changes you make in ecuflash are actually modifying the ROM.

so if you flash back to stock then the logger wont work - and mitsubishi *shouldn't* be able to tell you have reflashed the ECU

Oh..I'm sorry, for some reason I was thinking that config.txt was an ecuflash file...Can you tell I have't tried your logger yet

My apologies.

Let me make sure I'm clear please....

My romid as listed in Ecuflash is 52680018 which indicates it inherits 52680015.

So do I add the xml content you have listed for 52680015 into the "misc" section of my 52680015 xml file?

Like this exactly or do I need to modify this code as well:

52680015 -> 52680020
<table name="IFMode 0x05 -> 0x23 #1" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x7f121" scaling="Hex8"/>
<table name="IFMode 0x05 -> 0x23 #2" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x8ab11" scaling="Hex8"/>
<table name="DoMode 0x42 -> 0x52" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x8ab16" scaling="Hex16"/>

You only need the XML lines (ie not "52680015 -> 52680020")

wow guys, I really wish i knew what the hell you guys were talking about because i really need to log knock and other parameters.

Can any one please help me make sense out of all this jargon.

my ROM ID is 52680015 and then it says Inherits evo10base

all i've done so far is download the beta which i've updated correctly (i think) and downloaded the zip file that SIC posted along with the 52680015 config file from the first page.

can someone help me with a how to, in really lame terms. I would really like to learn how to do it, but if its over my head i can zip all the files i need and send them to someone for some compensation$$$

thanks guys

Do you have an OP2.0 cable?

You need update your EcuFlash definition with the XML from post #1, then modify YOUR ROM by changing the 3 new tables in EcuFlash.

Once you flash that to your ECU you can log.

Whether you use Evoscan or my logger it doesn't really matter

where am i suppose to add
52680015 -> 52680020
<table name="IFMode 0x05 -> 0x23 #1" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x7f121" scaling="Hex8"/>
<table name="IFMode 0x05 -> 0x23 #2" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x8ab11" scaling="Hex8"/>
<table name="DoMode 0x42 -> 0x52" category="Misc" type="1D" address="0x8ab16" scaling="Hex16"/>

the xml definition is found inside the rommdata file in ECUFLASH right?

where do i find the three ROM tables?

and yes i have an OP 2.0

yes add the XML component to your xml def in rommetadata (add it b4 the </rom> at the end)

then open ecuflash and you should see the tables in the "Misc" category
