John's SD patch is quite simple in that it is supposed to only alter the master load calculation. In the level of detail that I've studied it, I've not seen how the patch could affect any other portion of the IPW calculation. SD load does appear to have more noise than MAF load, and this does seem to cause slightly more noise in the IPW value. However, SD load doesn't seem to get correspondingly noisier in load/rpm region where SD IPW gets really noisy. There are a quite a few variables that factor into the final IPW calc, and perhaps some small thing has been overlooked. It would take some effort for me to figure it out, but I do plan to go through it if needed because I'd like to eventually start running SD. It would be helpful if I could get a copy of John's IPW calculation notes if they are in electronic format. I'll have to talk with him at some point.

That's fair enough. I may switch to fulltime SD anyway in hopes that something will be discovered in the future. The car is still perfectly drivable...just that one range seems to be a bit annoying.
Of course if there is ever anything you want me to try, just let me know.

I have reason to believe the map isn't the problem as the noise in the map signal doesn't seem to correlate to the increase in noise in the IPW signal, as mrfred suggested. And, even when using tephra's mag averaging, the issue still remains.
But if there is something simple to try, I'm all for hearing suggestions.

For me the issue is only bad when by engine is not fully warmed up; the cooler the engine is the worse the issue is. It seems like it doesn't richen the mixture for cool coolant temps like it did with the airflow sensor; it seems to run leaner overall when it's not warmed up actually.

I switched from 9417 to 9653 successfully and can live tune. I haven't implemented SD yet though.

One thing to note about the LiveMap app and the ignition/knock realtime tracing.
Currently it is hardocded for your load to be in row 1, your RPM in row 12, and knock in row 13 (on your data tab, corresponding to your MUT table). I just coded up a new version that I haven't tested yet where you can set what row each is in, so that the map tracer and knock trace work correctly when you change your logging table around.
Maybe I should just start a new thread with the latest LiveMap app and just update that when I make updates to it.

BTW, since you're on SD but on a different ROM, do you have any logs handy of cruising around that you can post up? I'm just curious if your ROM exhibits the jumpy IPW issue as well.

Actually Eric, I am contemplating switching from my 94170015 to the 96530706 just to try this out. I have new injectors coming, and this would help immensely I think with retuning my car.
