ecuflash not reading help
yesterday it worked but today once i plug in the openport1.3. open up ecuflash and click read to ecu the pop up window should already read the ecu. the bottom tab reads. "read" & "cancel". today that window is blank. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling ecuflash, checked my cable the flash wire does have power going into it but i checked my wire to the ecu its fine like i never touched it. still dont know whats wrong. help anyone!?
im sure ecu flash options work other than reading the ecu. when i ready to read the ecu it doesnt prompt me about turning on my ignition then press ok.
this is what i get when i write ecu but when i compare ecu it works and compares them?:
[18:50:32.476] sending init sequence 1 (0001)
[18:50:35.726] sending init sequence 1 (0003)
[18:50:38.979] sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)
[18:50:41.712] no response to any known code
[18:50:41.713] interface close

Is your car a 4/5 or 6? I notice that you have thoes parts for sale. I think there were some issues with some of the 6 ECUs, but that was mainly flashing. You might also try for help at www.geekmapped.com this UK based site has a bit more experiance with the older cars.

ok i hope this is the cause:
heres the link:

faulty cable pin conntecting to pin 79. im gonna try this. when i checked the voltage it was 2-4 volts, and kinda jumpy? so im gonna jam the multimeter in. see how that works.

Looks like battery voltage or a locked ECU as the most common problems. Start the car and run it for 1 min before you try to connect, or throw it on a battery tender/trickle charger and let it charge for ~30 min before trying again (with the charger still connected).
If you have flashed the car before then it isn't locked, if not try ECU Unlocker.
EDIT:
Nevermind. Does it give you the option to select which ECU type? If not it is probably trying the wrong initialization sequence.

i found out what the problem was. nothing to do with the cable. 4-5 volt source from pin 79 is correct. once you download ecuflash theirs the read template. NOTE*** COPY ALL OF THE XML FILES IN THAT FOLDer AND PASTE IT IN THE EVO XML FOLDER(IN ROMMETADATA/mitsubishi/evo/ FOLDER)
AND IT WORKS NOW....who ever comes to this would probably find out the hard way. uninstalling and reinstalling doesnt do anything. you have to manually do it. f***up, but good to know.
