HOW-To 96260009 JDM8MR to 96530706

In this thread i will put down how to upgrade from a JDM8MR 96260007 or a 96260009 (or their ralliart eqv) roms to the V7 96530006 rom.

NOTE: Ok before we start modding the ecu a few things to do.
  1. If u intend running ecu control boost then realise that the only solenoid that works is the one with the grey plug. ie if you have a 3port make sure its connected to the grey plug.
  2. If you intend on using LiveMap (DMA) make sure the address for the dead variable in both Tephra and JB Locations is not 0xA800, change it to 0x841E.

This works on my car without a problem it might not work on yours

Imobilizer
  1. You will need to copy the imobilizer from your current rom to the V7 rom.
  2. "Imoblizer Hex" will be 0058 change it to 0053

Prephary
I copied all the bits from 96260009 rom except the ones for "rear 02".
  1. FCA the changes are:
    Bit 15=Off
    Bit 08=Off
    Bit 06=Off
    Bit 04=Off
    Bit 02=Off
    Bit 01=Off
  2. FDA the changes are:
    Bit 08=On
    Bit 04=Off
  3. F9A the changes are:
    Bit 02=Off
    Bit 00=On

Injectors
If you do not copy these then the fuel will change as the scaling in the EDM roms is different.
  1. Injector Size, copy accross
  2. Injector Battery Voltage Latency Compensation, copy accross.

Decel Fuel Cut
You can either change all the tables to the value from table 2 in 9653 rom or copy accross the values from table #3 from 9626 rom. I have not found much difference in either way. Hence I prefer just copying the table #3 accross as firstly it keeps the roms closer to what they were from the factory. And as i said not much difference in them.

In 96260009 if its not already defined define decel fuel cut #3 with address= 0x3f4e. And copy to the 9653X706 rom. or just copy and paste these values.

Idle Tables
To rid of the rev hang just change two tables, set all of the values in them both to 0.
the tables are:
  1. ISCV Demand RPM Adder [rpm > 4500, load > 170, speed > 12 mph]
  2. ISCV Demand RPM Adder (Moderated by Baro, IATS) (FFFF6EA8) (sub_204B6) [sub_1EFC0]

O2 Heater Disable
Please set the O2 to 0x0009 in the Heater Patch to disable it.

[b]MAF Compensation[b]
The values need to be changed to the one from the JDM8MR rom. they are below, just copy and paste into the 9653 rom's maf compensation table.
168.023
168.023
173.039
173.039
170.531

Additional Stuff
From just a basic look it seems the IDLE table is different too but not sure if it makes much difference. you can copy it across if you want.
My trim idle trim is out a fair bit (over 5 then before) you can either try and play with latencies or decrease the lower part of the maf table by 3-5% (i think till 75Hz).
Stationary Rev limiter does not work when you move to 9653 rom. i have an idea that i will try tomorrow to hopefully fix it... if we are lucky.

stationary rev limiter fix here : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-not-work.html
cold start high revs fix (link later)

Thats it for now

And for all of you who say that pictures say more than a thousand words, there you go.

ok tried this and had to disable the immobilizer code to get the car to start. other than that the fuel trims have improved considerably from my last attempt to use this rom on my car.....however my old fuel settings have had to be changed so that the car does not run lean....

more testing needed, however so far it seems positive!

simple_lancer also may be able to provide some insight on this as he has guided me in getting this rom to work on my car!

yep as i said trims will be out, i am playing with the injector latencies... but i have 1050s in so didnt want to put that in. they are about 3% out from what i had... saying that i didnt put the latencies that i was running on 9626... my mistake so i had to reset the ecu, and will take me a day to get the latencies again to workout how much off i am from my original rom.

the lean at full boost? i think u need to copy the compensation values.... i will copy them and let u know if it makes it richer for me.... if u find any more info in getting this rom to work on the 8mr please share this way we can have one post where any new person can read all things needing to be done to move to 9653.

why did u have to diasable the immob code.... it works for my car.

there is one more issue, my stationary rev limiter does not work

Will definitely share any new info that I acquire.

A few questions -
The Decel Fuel Cut tables, should i make all of the tables (Decel Fuel Cut Delay #1,#2,#3) the same using the values you posted -

I also noticed something I have never seen before...when i first start the car it runs rich with negative timing for a while @ idle. Is this normal?, because before (on 96260009) when i first start the car it never ran rich......

I had to turn off the immobilizer because when i loaded the rom with the immobilizer on, it started the car and then the car proceded to die......have no clue why....disabled the immobilizer and it started and idled well.

no i think change all tables to the lower value from 9653 table 2... or just change table 3 to the above... i have had decel issues even on 9626 so either of the two work... obviously making all the lower values means even less fuel... but it still pops for me.

Also what MAF tables did you copy over when converting to 96530706?

The only tables I have defined for 96260009 MAF are -

MAF Scaling
MAF Smoothing Table
MAF Sensor Filtering MAF Size
MAF sensor filtering

I have noticed that 96530706 has alot more MAF Tables which are sometimes in different units so i was unsure which i should copy -
MAF Size - the same
MAF Scaling (MAF Adder already included) - different units
MAF Compensation - dont have this defined in my 96260009, perhaps MAF Smoothing?
MAF Sensor Filtering - different

Which have yoy copied over?
Aslo what is MAF adder? and how much is its value in 96260009?

RPM speed to gear

i found this posted by mrfred a while back regarding gear ratios for gear dependent boost control. the 8 mr is slightly different rpm/mph than base in 96530706. i haven't tested it yet.

EVO VIII MR

Gear Ratio rpm/mph 1st 2.909 180.1 2nd 1.944 120.3 3rd 1.434 88.8 4th 1.100 68.1 5th 0.868 53.7 6th 0.693 42.9

ok i am pretty sure i have a code fix for the stationary rev limiter, that daemian is testing now

i am sure there is an easier solution like changing one table or value... but this should work without any problems so it will do...
