ok so im trying to get the rom image from my ecu and im new to this but when i connected the cable and tried to read with ecuflash .it says that it is an unknown rom using any of the current definitions. it has three options.
abort
continue without the ability to view it or anything just save it
and create a new one.
what should i do?

 

It should have a rom ID for the image just tell us what it is so we can find the right XML

 

how would i find the rom id? all it tells me is that its unknown

 

Just continue without the ability to view it the program will tell you what its ID is

 

my friend told me a tuner locked me out. is this possible?

 

and that doesnt work either you cant read it or view it or anything

 

anyone have any ideas here?

the only info i have is[19:30:51.546] kernel version is : OpenECU Mitsubishi SH7052 Kernel V1.06

 

car is a 2005 evo 8 ssl

well i have no idea how to post a rom image up here.i dont think you get it. its locked

 

Then prepare to be schooled on how to do it yourself. I couldn't remember the exact steps so i just made ecuflash unrecognize an existing rom.


STEP 1) Open a rom to recieve this Dialog



STEP 2) Make sure you use the wizard to create a new def since the other option just closes it.

STEP 3) We are going to inherit from the evo 7 base you could use the evo 9 base if its from an evo 9 you get the idea i think



STEP 4) Use reading skills to extract the rom ID labeled in red in this dialog. You could cancel the process at this point since we just want the ROM ID not really to create a xml file.
