I'm in the process of switching from my old toshiba to a 1005he that I got from a coworker for cheap. He'd already upgraded to 2gb, everything works fine with ecuflash, but I've got some sort of windows issue preventing evoscan from connecting to the ecu
as far as editing maps, the big maps aren't a big deal, you just have to move them around on the screen a bit. its almost perfect, an 11 inch screen would be nicer, but I couldn't turn this one down for the price :-D

Still a netbook is great for tuning. I liked mine. I only upgraded to a 15" laptop because I got one at best buy for $320, basically netbook price.
oh yeah, also most all netbooks have a lot less computing power then a reg size laptop. Thats one thing I noticed between my netbook and my laptop.

Any more input on this topic? Looking at an asus at best buy for $500, but still wondering if I should spend $300 on a netbook if I'm going to upgrade to a laptop anyway. If a netbook will work I don't want to spend almost double on the asus. Any more feedback? Thanks!

I wonder if DMA logging through the Tactrix USB cable would solve the com port issues with net books and logging resolution.
A net book running DMA and livemap could be the killer interface, any thoughts?

a netbook is a mini laptop, so with that said i would rather have the more compact one (netbook) than a bulky laptop. I use a big laptop and it gets annoying, and you can get very fast netbooks these days. You dont need no more than a dual core 1.8ghz or so with 512mb mem. Thats even excessive, but that will run all programs lag free.

Yes, and no.
I'm pretty sure that Evoscan is only out for Windows operating systems.
You could, however, run boot camp or VMware fusion, or Parallels, to load Windows XP/Vista/7 on your Mac.
So yes, you can run Evoscan on a Mac, with a Windows operating system.
PM me if you have any questions on the software you'd need. I'm an IT major so I may be able to help with install questions, etc.

I picked up a DELL Inspiron 15 notebook I wanted a 14" but this was on sale for $449. Intel dual core processor, 3 gig ram ,250 Gig hard drive, windows 7 Dvd burner. It was more then a netbook but well worth it for a better computer.
