Unhappy Evo 8 ecu in 2G DSM... don't start :(

Hi... I've got a problem with a 2g DSM... I have evo 8 ecu on it, recently installed...

I have disabled the immobilizer, the car cranks but don't start... it looks like the engine where out of time, it ckranks but sounds like the engine stucks...

I'm thinking there is (diffidently) a problem with the spark timing... because I disconnect the coils and the engine cranks freely...

my rom is the 9653006

the sparks works, the gas pump works... anyone knows what maybe happening, if I have to change the spark plugs positions to start the 2g dsm?

P.D. I have read a loooot info on dsmtuners, but I can't find anything...

Depending on which CAS you have you will need to swap coils.

97-99, or 1G CAS, no need to swap coils.

95-96 have a inverted CAS signal, so coils need to be swapped.
(Even with coils swapped, car may not run right.)

I have changed the wires on the coils... Nothing happens, besides the "pops" in the exhaust, but don't start...

When yuo say "swap the coils" i have to get out the 95 coils and put inside 97-9c coils???

I'm sorry for my spelling i'm writing from my blackberry...

The pops mean you're getting fuel and spark, but not at the right time or in incorrect amounts.

Are you sure you've scaled your injectors correctly?
What MAS are you running? Have you made the necessary changes if need be?
What year is your car? What year/generation is the engine?

Post up your ROM. I may take a peek at it later if I get bored.

Swap coils, is swapping plug wires 1&4 with 2&3.
Or swapping the feed wires to the coil pack.

You should post more info, for people to help you easier.
Like: Year car, what CAS, etc. As well as your ROM.

If you have a 95 CAS and CPS, you may unfortunately run into some issues. The newer ecus (98+) don't like the Inverted CAS signal. And can cause low rpm engine vibration, knock, and misfires.

But if its not starting at all, you have some other issue.

I have swapped the spark wires on the coils... I'll swap the ecu pins tomorrow and see... Thanks...

I have the car this week, the car starts on the stock ecu, but the ecu had a TPS and MAF problem, I change the maf and tps and had the same problem (maf don't read any and tps was 5V)... I check the wiring and everything from maf and tps to ecu and nothing seems to be wrong...

try the evo 8 ecu and everything works, the tps and the maf, the rpm, coolant sensor, everything...

I don't know much about the car...

The car is 95, 7 bolts, the car is stock (or at least is what the previous owner told me)... so everything, CAS, MAF, TPS, Coils, etc must be the oem ones...

I'll post my rom tomorrow, the laptop is in the car at this moment... and I can post some minor datalog when im trying to start the car...

Are you by chance using a tephra-mod rom? If so make sure that valet mode is disabled, that was an issue for me at one time and really freaked me out until I realized what was going on.

To the OP did your problem get resolved? I'm having the same issue with a customers car. I'm going to try swapping the wires around and see if it cranks freely. Oh does anyone know if V7 mods can be used on the Talon CEL knock to be specific.

If the Check Engine light is wired to the ECU correctly than yes, the Tephra CEL Knock Light feature will work.
