Can't Download Rom from ECU - Searched Already!
I have what I am assuming is the Tatrix cable from the previous owner that plugs into the OBDII port and the port directly next to it. Those both go to a USB connection. I plugged it into my laptop, opened up Ecuflash, put my key in, and turned it to the On position without starting the car, but when I looked in EcuFlash, is said no cable detected. I reopened EcuFlash and the same thing occurred.
I know my computer is reading the cable correctly because there was a small pop up when on the taskbar that said Open something something 2.0.
Any ideas? This car has been previously tuned on the stock Ecu by Aaron at English Racing.

Probably a driver issue.......
I would suggest uninstalling ecuflash and the tactrix drivers....then re-install and plug the cable in and let the drivers re-install. Usually a fresh & clean install fixes issues like this - its a start anyway.

I think I may have found out why. I am currently using the Open Port 1.3 which came with the car. From reading the change log at Tatrix, EcuFlash 1.42 is no longer compatible with Openport 1.3 cables due to insufficient boot up voltages for the microprocessor.
Which freaking sucks, because the Openport 2.0 is $170. WTH!!!!?

But.. you may want to try to install and older version of ecuflash and see if it works. Sounds like it is loading the wrong driver.

similar issue here.. I went back to v1.34 ecuflash, and still didn't work... strange enough, I bought evoscan, and I can read/write with it flawlessly... so I guess it will be read in evoscan... edit with ecuflash... and write back in evoscan... :-/
Also just the 1.3 cable here as well.

Here's basically what I did right, and what I did wrong.
I originally installed EcuFlash 1.42. While installed the program is asked you to install the Openport cable drivers, which I did. I then booted the program up, plugged the Openport usb into the computer. When I plugged it in, the notification popped up asking me to install new hardware (I'm using XP btw). When it popped up, I cancelled it obviously because I had already installed the drivers (whoops). After this, the program still didn't recognize any cable attached.
So, I read the change log and noticed on the Tactrix website, it says 1.42 is no longer compatible with the 1.3 cable. I assumed this was my issue and unstalled 1.42. I found a thread here on the forums with a link to older versions of EcuFlash, downloaded 1.40, and installed it. Upon installation, I again installed drivers for the Openport cable. Once I booted the program, I once again plugged the cable in. XP, once again, asked me to install the drivers.
HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART
This time, at the New Hardware Dialog, I selected "No, let me find the driver" option instead of cancelling out or letting windows search for it. After this, select the bottom option that says something like "I will select the driver from a specific loation." After you hit next, the next page should have the Openport X.X (in my case "Openport 1.3" option. Select the option and continue with the installation. Windows will notify you that the driver is not signed. Yeah whatever, hit continue.
Repeat this process once more when the second New Hardware Dialog pops up, and bingo, EcuFlash should now properly read your Openport cable.
If this is all old news to most of those guys who read it, sorry for the noobishness, but I didn't see any information on this ANYWHERE on the forums. Hopefully this will help some people.
