that sucks. this is why we waste so much time to learn ourselves, and why we go out of our way to learn other things as well.. the end result is well worth it.. and the end result makes it all worth while and in reality its not wasting time at all when you get what you put the time in for. self tuning and feeling the power differences is an amazing thing and makes you appreciate your car so much.. same thing as self wrenching.. doing it yourself just makes you feel so proud of your car. saving on labor is just a plus

Nonschlont I'm in the same boat as you. I paid $275 to have my car street tuned after the dealership flashed my ecu back to stock without telling me and I've been fighting to get it right ever since. The first tune I got was so bad that when I first posted it on here people were saying that I was lucky I didn't blow my motor and I couldn't even break 95mph in the 1/4 So I took the car back to the same shop to give them a chance to fix it and even though the tuner acknowledged that the first tune was garbage, the retune was only a mild improvement. I think I'm officially done with paying other people to tune my car. I finally had a wideband put in last month and my Omni 4 Bar map sensor just came in the mail today. I've already made some drastic improvements in the tune and now that I can log boost... forget about it! You know the old saying "If you want something done right, do it yourself!"

Getting back to the OP's original question though, I actually have the same question only I'm on a stock turbo w/ 10.5 hotside. Right now I can only run about 8* to 10* timing up top at about 20 PSI. If I try to run any more timing than that I get anwhere from 3-6 counts of knock. I could probably lower the boost and run more timing but would it make more power to have more boost up top or more timing?

yes usually more timing and less boost will yield in more power gains.. id never wanna run high boost with **** timing, its doing what the motor doesn't want to do naturally. also the way the timing map is being modified can make it knock too. everything needs to be smooth in the map no big jumps
