Turn signals and rear wiper staying on after ECU read
I have a bizarre problem after trying (unsuccessfully) to read a JDM Evo7 ECU in my car
My 2001 JDM Evo 7 currently runs an Apexi Power FC using the standard loom. I just purchased a used Evo 7 ECU to start flash tuning, so I wanted to plug it in and try and read the ECU as a first step.
This is what I did:
1.) Unplug PFC from loom and plug in stock Evo 7 ECU (first time it's been plugged into my car)
2.) Plug in EvoScan 1.3U universal cable into OBDII port
3.) Note that turn signal lights all come on and stay on at this point - regardless if I key off
4.) Opened ECUFlash v1.42.2595 on the laptop
5.) Plugged in 1.3u cable to USB on laptop and installed drivers etc. Read from ECU button is enabled in ECUFlash.
6.) Turn ignition to ON and rear wiper + spray start up!
7.) Key OFF and go and pull fuse for rear windscreen wiper/pump. Note at this point the turn signal lights are all lit up regardless of key position.
8.) Key back ON, click 'Read from ECU' and select Evo 7 as vehicle type.
9.) Get this attached error: 'An error occurred. See the log for details.'
After a few attempts at this I had drained the battery, so I unplugged the Evo 7 ECU and put my PowerFC back in, pulled out the 1.3u cable and started the car with jumper leads.
The problem is, the turn signals remain on at ALL times and the rear wiper/spray comes on when the key is in the ON position! Even with my PFC ECU plugged in which wasn't doing any of this before I started. I can't get it to revert back to normal, so have to pull the relevant fuses.
HELP!

Bump for any ideas or help at all?
Given that the indicators and rear wiper are the problem here (regardless of which ECU is plugged into the loom) it must be something to do with the ETACS. Is there a way I can connect to this and reset it or something??

I'm new to this but did you make a backup you could flash to your ecu(s)? you know make a copy of the working edition before you mod so can start fresh if problem like this one occur?
Could be bad relays created from the JDM ecu. You pulled the fuses not replace the relays and reseat your fuses.

Yeah this thread was started back in 2010 guys. And yep Merlin, ETACS unit was fried unfortunately due to EvoScan cable
I purchased a 2nd hand unit and installed it and broke off pin 9 on the 1.3u cable and have had no problems since. Was not a nice problem though and many had the same issue unfortunately - there's a whole thread on it here somewhere...
