but when its started you have good voltage so no problem.
you can unplug the sensor from the main block so you have less cable to manage / get twisted

Congratulations, you've inadvertently joined the brotherhood of failed innovative wide bands. I had the same issue of only seeing 7.5 and after rewiring and recalibrating it countless times nothing fixed it. I even replaced the sensor to the same effect of nothing. Do yourself a favor and keep it simple with an AEM.
