Lightbulb Review of Grimmspeed BCS on EVO IX RS (dual solenoids)

This is what you see opening the parcel. Many thank from Grimmspeed but I has I go on, it is me to who has to thank Grimmspeed.

The contents of the parcel include: four adhesive tapes in two colors, a warranty of quality, a handbook of instructions and solenoid.

Removing the air filter you’ll find two solenoids with the bracket

Two solenoid together in comparison with the Grimmspeed

This photo shows the different measure between the original solenoid and Grimmspeed. Be careful that this solenoid has the bracket for EVO X. People who owns an EVO IX RS must buy this model, not the one for EVO IX GSR (mono solenoid)

To install solenoid Grimmspeed on the original bracket, I used a short original bolt and nut

This is how it looks on my EVO IX RS.
I connected the grey connector (solenoid 1 command) to the solenoid of Grimmspeed and I left the black connector (solenoid 2 command) on the original solenoid (solenoid with black connector). It has been easy to find the correct setting for the maximum pressure, remarkable the control of pression which is precise.

The hoses connections are on the Grimmspeed handbook of instructions. I connect exit “2” at the compressor inlet.

Going on with the ECU setup, I arrived at 1,7 – 1,55 Bar pressure.

Leaving the double solenoid (including the original) I maintained the precision boost very high.

I warmly advice to maintain the second solenoid to obtain the maximum control.

I remind you that this guide is for the external wastegate application but this Grimmspeed solenoid may be mounted for standard wastegate application.

This is the startup setup on the ECU:

I very much thank the Grimmspeed to have equipped me with one of the best 3 ways solenoid on the market. Easy to setup and very low latency.

just tuned my FQ 300 with 1 of these, very good and easy to tune, barbs seem long enough to me

well it would be better if they were longer AND had a slightly bigger OD

that way the vacuum line cant kink on the end and cant fall of easy.

(yes even with zipties)

Agreed, the fittings on my Tial wastegate have a much larger OD compared to the 3-port. I might look to see if I can swap these out for something slightly larger.

+1. Even Samco vacuum lines are not holding too good on it.

I think the problem is with the guys that are running external waste gates, the kit comes with supplied vacuum line and this fits the solenoid and std WGA fine!

No problems at all, you can change the barbs/tails out. Put some 5mm items on and hey presto you can run 5mm line to your external gate

Hey. Looking at Your connection diagram, should I this #3 bcs port left vented or can I connect it to intake ?

Ideally, you want to recirculate the air back into the intake if you are running a MAF still. Although, many have allowed it to vent to the atmosphere with minimal issues. When possible, connect it to the intake.

Thank You sir
And one more thing: should I change some wgdc values with this connection setup? I have currently connection like this:

Update:

When some of You will change hoses setup like me, here is the answer how will behave your boost.

With diagram from my previous post, my boost was ~23 psi @ 65% wgdc with zeroed out bec and bdel tables (I am using only wgdc with luck).
With diagram from post #1, my boost at the same wgdc settings was about 1.8 bar (~26 psi).

So conclusion is: You must lower Your boost.

Thank You for Your attention

You can have it tuned on Evoscan if you have a tuner that knows how to tune ECU boost. I already tested this with another high dollar EBC and both still could not do what my Hallman MBC with Stiff Spring and Ceramic ball can do. I lost allot of low end torque as the EBC wont react as fast as a MBC imo.
