Looks like the read_evo xml is in a different folder to the one you have specified in the amls folder options. The read xmls are in a read templates folder which is usually in C:\Program Files \OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata or C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata for Win 7. You need that folder and it's contents copied to the path for the rest of your xmls.
looking at your screen shot the ROM metatdata is in the c:\users......roaming\ path, the read_evo folder and it's contents need to be there as well

I also have this problem, luckly I use tephra V7 and i have back up copies in my laptop already.
I am using windows vista
My car is a 2003 EVO gsr
ROM ID: 94170715 using APPLAUDS V7 XML
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ecuflash and evoscan
I am using ECUflash 1.42.2595
I am using the Tactrix 1.3U cable
I can not read my rom.
Ecuflash comes up with a blank screen when trying to read (shows no selections).
I can not read DTC codes with Evoscan.
I can read and write Evo IX roms.
My read template file has
read_evo5.xml
read_evo7.xml
read_evo9.xml
read_evo65.xml
etc...
OPTIONS > Metadata Directory in ecuflash is:
C:/Program files/OPENECU/ECUFLASH/ROMMETADATA/MITSUBISHI/EVO
My battery is in A++ condition, 12V or over when writing to ecu or trying to read
I can write roms no problem at all.
I can scan OBD codes with Scan Tech and the tactrix 1.3U cable
I can log with EvoScan
I have been able to read my rom and read DTCs in the past, unfotunatly IDK the exact time this started happening. Hopefully we can fix this.
Mabye a problem with vista? I know vista can be a pain in the **** lol
