Sorry if I come off sounding like a dick but you need to understand how a MAF based system works. The maf measures the amount of air entering the engine and tells the ECU which calculates the amount of fuel necessary along with some other parameters. Go Speed Density if you want to run VTA. Hope this helps.

No worries and I certainly appreciate all comments and inputs.

My only concern is I'm on VTA for the past 4 years and have not encountered this problem before. I can try to buy a recirculation BOV but worried this may not be the cause.

It seems like many people are also dealing with idling issues one way or another. I'd hope to understand what are the symptoms for each and every problem that are associated to idling. This way, I can do a compilation and create a new thread to help those who has got idling problems and help them identify their most possible problem.

Some of the those that I can think of:
1. dirty/ faulty MAF
2. dirty throttle body
3. VTA BOV
4. Faulty Idling Valve
5. fouled plugs - Symptoms include continuous rich/lean AFR during idling and sluggish power during drive.
6. Vacuum leak

Ok no prob. everyone I know who have tried to run VTA on a MAF setup has your symtoms including my self for the reasons I and others have tried to explain above. What type of VTA are u using? Just realized it a HKS. You could also try blocking it off and see how it idles. Could u post up a log of a 5min idle?

I'll try to post a log as soon as I can. I couldn't explain why I wasn't experiencing this problem before but only after I change my injectors and cams.

What are the symptoms you experienced when you are on a VTA on MAF setup back then?

For me and when on closed loop:

1. Car starts alright on cold start and idle well.
2. After warm up, car goes close to stalling whenever i go into neutral.
3. During idling, car goes lean (down to AFR 19.0) and rich (up to AFR 9.6) and make no attempt to stabilize

When on open loop:

1. Car starts alright on cold start and idle well.
2. After warm up, car goes close to stalling whenever I go into neutral.
3. During idling, car goes rich only (up to AFR 10.0) but stables itself after a minute or two of idling and hovering between AFR 14.0 to 16.0.

Nope, no error code at all.
