New BR 2.1L Base map?
So Im helping a friend install a Buschur racing 2.1L Engine in his car. Cas has all supporting mods bolt ons etc. Stock Ix turbo...
For the baseline ROM to get the car started is there anything special that we should do? I was planning on reducing timing on all 3 high and low octane maps by 6° or except for the idle section (currently at 8°) and the low load higher rpm cruise section of 38°. The fuel we will adjust according to the wideband. So for now ill leave it where it is. It should be running in closed loop during startup and idle anyway. Once we get it running i think it needs to run for 20 min then we change the oil thats in there with the breakin stuff. I figured i would log all of the fuel trims to get an idea of where things are at. Scalling and latencys might have to be adjusted? It is a differnt block so im sure it will have different characteristics. Will this affect the injectors though? I mean im sure it wont change the dead time of these particular injectors but every engine is different.
Any other things i should look out for?
Thanks for any help guys.
also would it worth while to switch to Tephra V7 while we are at it? Or should we just get it in a decent spot with the factory stye map first?
P.s. the car does have an unknown tune on it..... Lots of timing. hence the reduction of 6°. The car did run well for a while but ultimately the motor gave out at 30 or 40k miles. sooo that could be due to the tune i suppose....

What compression? If its 9:1 nothing has really changed unless its an SD car. If you are concerned you can pull timing out in the midrange load/upper rpm but I wouldnt worry about it too much.
If its a 10:1 motor or something along those lines, then yeah I would pull 4* out in boost to start with.

Thanks for your reply. It is a 10:1 motor. Started with -4° throughout. Up top it seemed ok and can most likely take more. During part thorttle in 5th gear we were getting some knock. Sometimes high like 22 counts... This is with maybe 20-35% TPS and around the 80-120 load range. We tried reducing timing in this area and it helped a little. It wouldnt do it quite as often. I have to believe that this knock isnt really caused by timing though? Engine noise? Ive read a few threads on built motors and noise picked up as knock? Ive also struggled with this type of knock on my own car but im not built. Bolts on and upgraded springs/valves. S2's.....
The BR motor is pretty nasty so far though.

with built motors sometimes you will have to tailor the knock tables however make sure you are logging knock voltage as well so you can see the threshold ceiling and tailor it from there...
