Help!!! Car leaning out!!!!

Well I will make this as quick as possible to read. To get down to the nitty gritty I have my car on a dyno and we were trying to tune it for E85 last night. She was crazy lean all around, so we tried to richen up the entire fuel curve. We were able to get the bottom of the curve down into the low 11's, but as it stands right now once the car reached 5000ish rpm the fuel leans out and by redline the AFR is reaching 14. Not good and haven't found the solution yet.

As far as parts pertaining to this issue. Just installed some FIC BlueMax 900cc injectors and a Walbro 400lph fuel pump.

Checked the voltage to the fuel pump and it is receiving 12 volts throughout. Put an inline Fuel PRessure Gauge in today and it increases from idle and reached 65ish psi around 5000rpm and then the fuel pressure drops.

Any ideas? I have more info if you need it let me know...

Your injectors are too small.

After doing some more research, I am thinking a fuel pump rewire is in order. It seems pretty common that the fuel pump loses efficiency when trying to pull too much draw through the stock wiring. I don't see why the injectors would be too small. Its a stock turbo, stock head, and stock bottom end. I am looking for 30psi of boost MAX on this setup. I have seen much bigger builds seeking much more horsepower than I am, and they are using these injectors...

A 400lph not rewired flows about the same as a 255lph.
A 255lph is good for 400+whp.
I still think your injectors are too small for e85, especially if you plan on boosting 30psi.
How much boost were you running? And what were your IDC's at?

Check your injector duty cycle. I am near max on my ID1000's stock turbo, head, block, and E85.

my 1000cc injectors were at 130% duty cycle on e85, they were just not having it so id say your injectors are a bit to small

Did a fuel pump rewire yesterday. Should be getting on the rollers again tomorrow to finish everything up. I will let you know what the injector duty cycle is after we get her sorted out, but I haven't heard any concern about them yet...

as far as i know the stock turbo recommended injector size for e85 is at least 1100cc

900 cc to small will run out QUICK. You can only get away with that small an inj. Is at 5000 ft + with a wal. 255. With the boost under 26ish psi.

We got her sorted out. Everything is great now. An adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a larger fuel rail kept those injectors happy and kept the fuel pressure up all the way through the power band. Color me impressed!!! These final numbers on the dyno were more than I was expecting!! Just in time to get her on the trailer and on the way to Summit Point.

FYI: 900cc FIC Blue Max injectors and a Walbro 400lph fuel pump seem to do the job quite nicely. No over run on the IDC....

What FPR did you go with? That seems to be the ticket if you can get it fairly inexpensive and you have the Walbro 400.
