Cant find a ROM/XML file needed
So I read my ECU for my EVO IX with evoscan to get an image file. I also read it with ecuflash v1.29 since my cable was bought on evoscan it will not read with the newest version because its not a legit tractrix 1.3U cable.
So I get the .HEX image that i read from my ECU and try and open it and it says it does not recognize the file. So ok I do not have the right ROM ID for it to open.
Everything I have done says the ROM ID is 96940011. I downloaded from a link i found usning the search feature on this site and also google. I also downloaded the tepha zip file with all the .xml files and that did not work either.
Can anyone help me on figuring out what file I need to tune? Also from the research I have done the 96940011 xml is an ID for an 05 EVO VIII MR and I have an 06 EVO IX MR. Is that bad for the car? Would that mean my mivec isn't working correctly?
Attached is a copy of the .HEX file i read from my EVO's ECU

There is actually somebody trying to fool you...
it is actually an JM 8859xxxx version rom.
i assume that it is an 88590013 /14 / 15
How to determine
check Address 3FFFC to 3FFFF secondary ID marker
check Address F50 to F51 third ID marker
Solution:
close ecuflash
delete any 96940011.xml file in rommetadata folder
copy the 88590015.Xml from Rommetadata into the same folder ( copy of....)
rename File to 96940011.xml
open file with notepad
replace any "88590015" with "96940011"
save it
Open Ecuflash
open YOUR pulled rom.
Should work, but check if all tables will be as expected ( or maybe an Tephra V5 to 7 Rom was used )

It is a tuned 88590015 USDM rom, so probably just a tricked up version to try and prevent reading the tune.
Its ok but could do with some improvements.
I did not check to see if it is a TephraMod rom though.

I do have the tephra v7 roms on my computer but even they did not work.
I tried to google tephra v5 and v6 and came up with links that did not work anymore as far as downloading roms.
I followed the steps listed in the second post and still can not get it to read. I will try again also and see if maybe I just missed something.

Ok ok, I have started to look at the ACD and in particular AYC roms again.
Have made some description alterations and made a start on grouping AYC functions - but none of it tested or verified, just best guess ATM.
