its not bricked the prob is , if you read it as 7202 and its 7203 it wont flash back and vice versa , first read as 7202 and as wreckleford says change 1 item and try flash back if it fails to erase , close ecuflash . go to rommetdata , open the xml for the rom (in your case prob 24430002) with wordpad or similar change the memmodel from h8539A to h8539FA then save now open the evo5 base and change the mem model aswell then save now open ecuflash and read as 7203 change one item and try flash back

ps to be 100% sure which chipset it has pop the ecu out of the case and look see which chip it has

I've tried all the combinations of mem model and processor. None of them helped. Its 100% an mh7202f, h8539f so it should have worked the first time I tried to flash it because they're the default settings. I don't want to come off as rude, I've just tried all that common stuff already, eg. Ecu unlocker, mem model, processor, etc

I was given two 6 ecus that someone tried to flash and I wasn't able to recover them either. So it is possible to brick them.

You could try doing it with a car on a battery charger. If that doesn't work you can test the harness at the ECU to make sure you aren't getting voltage drops mid flash or something. Otherwise I think you have a hardware failure on the ecu board. Based on the error message it kind of sounds like hardware.

Thx very much...I had the exact same issue...clicking relays etc and the Evo 6 wouldn't start after flashing it ..... and this fixed it.

After making the changes to the xml files as stated above, and changing ECUFlash to 7202...I read the ECU off the car, made a smal change and flashed it back without any issues this time.
Car started perfectly again.
