HTA86 Twinscroll Dyno and Track Results

With all the hype about the Twin scroll, and seeing that it works great with stock turbo/FP red and all the way up to a 42r. I figured it was worth giving a shot on my car Built by The Shop. So Jimmy @ the shop baselined my car with 25 psi with the HTA86 and Garret T3 .82 a/r on pump gas. It put down an impressive 590 whp.

So with no other changes done to the Car or Tune we bolted the Twinscroll Manifold and the Garret 1.00 A/R. And the boost was left at 25 psi. The car made almost exactly the same peak power.. but with quicker spool up and putting down 25-30 HP over the entire curve.

Also the car managed to run a 10.8 @135 on pump gas with 28/29 psi @ 3350 will post that in the Drag racing section though..

Nice, especially for a pump gas beast

I will post up my results in a thread after i go back on Wednesday and we turn up the boost on pump gas. Cant wait, this wastegate boost im running around on is a tease

Freddy, was this a Full-Race twin scroll manifold? Do you feel you could have benefited from the, FR suggested 1.06 a/r if so? Finally, could you please describe the streetability of you set-up. I'm trying to plan ahead, so your input would be welcomed. Thank you.

great results Freddy!

Very impressive for the boost used!

I believe The Shop and Junior consistently have shown that the cars they built, perform. Period!

A couple of observations. It looks like full spool at around 5500-5700. That is not particularly good for that turbo on either backside. Of course keeping within same arguments you did make a manifold change as well so its not really the perfect back to back. are the primaries same size on both manifolds? it does look like it is going to loose power past 8200 rpm and the boost isnt cranked up yet. that should get even worse and with higher boost. with power hitting at 6000 that rev needs to be to 9000 to be affective. I think you may be jumping to TS success conclusions too early. Do appreciate what you are doing so dont take it the wrong way.

Great results Freddy,, we all love back-toback testing results!!

I'm curious how the transient response is with your new set-up??

Considering weight, that mph is awesome for pump gas/low boost.

Get some 'sneakers' on and take that badboy back to the 1320!!

Twin scroll works! The only debate is can absolute peak power be better with a single scroll vs twin scroll - When it comes to power under the curve and spool up there's nothing to debate.

I've drive single scroll cars, 1.5 scroll cars and twin scroll cars, ( yes I own a lot of cars) and the transient throttle response of a twin scroll is ridiculous! I'm a road race guy and actually drive my cars on the street, so all out 1/4 mile power is the least of my concerns - I'll give up a few tenths in the quarter mile every single day for the increase power under the curve like this car picked up!

BTW OP Great job and thanks for posting up your results.

That has always been the argument though!! Is TS a hindrance on maxxed out combination. Turn the boost up to 35psi and let's look at the graphs again

actually far more valuable would be measuring back pressure .at 25 psi boost you would already know whats going on. if you had those numbers to look at what you would see is the TS is creating more back pressure. havent you noticed in full race thread how they started in post one with info that back pressure numbers would be posted? yet none have.

I hear ya, but for a street car and/or road race car Twin Scroll is the better solution...

If you really want a drag car that goes fast straight the EVO is the last car you should be building IMO...
