Jeff's TTP Tuned 522whp/523wtq Stock Block EvoRed HKS 280's!
Jeff is a dedicated racing nut. He is always wanting to take his car to the next level. He has been racing it ever since he bought it new in 2005. Despite the addiction to racing, he has preserved the car as a weekend racer with only 15,000 miles or so on the odometer.
He has had this old HKS 280/280 cam combo in his car for years now. I think they may have been take outs from an old setup used in my own motor at some point. Anyhow, he was interested in new cams, clutch or something else to get his Evo performance improved.
After the success of some of the other Evo's we have done lately, we decided to delay the cam change and see what we could extract from these low lift, high duration cams.
Jeff's car had already done 506whp with the EvoRed on C16 and a little over 400whp on pump. At $60-75 per 5 gallon barrel of this leaded fuel, it was not very cost effective to continue using racefuel. We decided on an alternative fuel. This fuel was Ethanol E82.
With a few FullBlown twin pump kits in stock, we went to work adding the 2nd walbro to his car and installed the stock line adapter kit. Before long the kit was installed. We next added the boost switch which turns on the 2nd pump. Once that was complete we added 1650cc TTP Ethamax injectors.
Thanks to new advances in stock ECU technology by Tephra, we were able to once again integrate pump 93 and Ethanol dual fuel maps complete with a toggle switch, new injector scalings for each fuel so 93 and E82 have their own fueling and timing tables.
With the stock frame EvoRed turbo, we were able to achieve 522whp/523wtq and a whp curve that traveled all the way into high rpms. Jeff has already trapped 125mph in full weight on 506whp, but we think he will improve his times based on the new fuel and tune at $2.24 per gallon instead of the C16's $12/gallon.
