470WHP FP Red Single 255 Pump

Dang, Kailen, you could have been a bit less violent in your response. If you read carefully you'd see that it's me (Levar) just trying to gauge what else I need to do with the FP Red once I'm all settled in at Arizona. Heck, I even told you those were/are my plans through PM over the past two days. You mention a 480 power mark as the ceiling for when the double pumper is absolutely necessary. To be perfectly honest with you, my goals are a safe 450whp/450wtq as I don't want to get to the point where I have to build the bottom end or breaking parts every week because I'm making too much power. I'm not a fan of buying parts that are not quality so once I get that FP Red, it will surely be built around quality and nothing but quality. I know that eventually I'll need the double pumper as (like you have said) it is overall safer for my car but for the short-term, I only want to get tuned and take advantage of the benefits of E85 even if I'm not operating or using its full potential. Regardless, I'm of the frame of mind that I could still make more power with my IDCs at 85-90% with E85 over pump/93 any day of the week. The concern that I have is that I don't want to have to replace the 1000cc injectors with 1200cc injectors once it's time for the next round of modification parts. Now maybe I have things all wrong and your post is bringing to light an aspect that I might have been overlooking. Fuel injectors are only nozzles with valves but the power to actually inject the fuel comes from the fuel pump that normally starts the fuel injection process, right? In that case, I can totally see why it wouldn't matter if I were to run the 1,000cc or the 1,200cc injectors as the double pumper would still be needed. Heck, I guess I am learning. So, with 1,000cc injectors, E85, and the double pumper, power-wise I should be around "x" amount? So in the meantime, I might just have to roll with a pump gas tune with the FP Red until I can stomach that double pumper purchase, huh?

ahhh now your cooking with crisco. i see the light went off in your head dude its nothing to just sell your injectors and upgrade people do it all the time. run 1000cc till your ready then swap. hell you might be on pump for a year or more YOU NEVER KNOW.. i would not call my post violent more like aggravated with your response to the double pumper and almost making it seem like its a worthless upgrade.

Does your AEM Tru-Boost read 29.5psi MAX after every run? If so than you need to get the AEM Tru-Boost External boost sensor upgrade (part#30-4351). Why? because the internal boost sensor on the AEM Tru-boost is maxed out and only reads and regulates the boost to 29.5psi.
I have those in stock if your looking for one.
Troy I've tried to explain it but lucas is too close minded and has the I have a shop and you dont so you dont know any thing mentality so he wouldn't hear it.
I got 81k and my motor has seen more abuse then rdwngs444 and most the others who's failure occurred on. The reason it hasn't blown up is because its always had a good tune.
I've seen the maps out of that place. All of them look like **** and are way beyond MBT. Everything in the bottom end will fail if you get lots of detonation or high cylinders from timing being sent over the limits.
Just cause I don't own a shop or am so small time tuner doesn't mean I don't know a thing or two.
My biggest regret was sending my friend there last summer because john buckley recommended them. And because of that my friend hasn't driven his evo in well over a year. They've screwed plenty of other people and I can only suspect it will happen to you sometime in the future.
Dennis won't have to worry how ever because he is in good hands. Tobz is twice the shop carz could ever be. The only reason they did any good was cause a bunch of rich people brought there cars there and in turn got some meager results that just so happen to be the fastest to date.

Will,
I find it just amazing how blind you really are. Neither Troy or Dan were on my tunes when their engines let go. They were both on JustDSM tunes from Sept08, pull your foot out of your mouth before you speak. Besides like I mentioned before, the tunes had nothing to do with Rod Bolt failures. So don't go around bad mouthing JustDSM, his tunes were fine.
Secondly your friend whom you are refering to 'Adam', I built his engine for him and noticed his oil cooler lines leaking after the dyno session. They were cracked from old age and frequent wear and tear and I told him they needed to be replaced but he declined. I asked him several times to keep an eye on his oil level because he chose not to replace them. Then out of the blue a month later Adam calls me up crying (seriously crying, no joke) because he is on the side of the road with no oil on the dipstick and a seized engine from oil starvation. First question I asked him was "have you checked your oil level lately?", he responded "not since last week", then I mentioned again "I told you to check the oil everytime you drive it until you get those oil cooler lines replaced, didn't I?". So it's automatically my fault because your friend has not driven his car in over a year? Maybe his foot is stuck in your mouth...
I would be happy to take the rest of this discussion to PM's but if you continue to bash me in public then I will defend myself in public.

Give me some money and I'll be more then happy to smash right into the 9's.

i have got to this thread late but how do you know how much abuse my car has seen? do you own my car? and to ASSUME i was on a Carz tune is ridiculous. to come on here and attack a shop isn't right and there are two sides to every story remind you.
dennis your car is killer and you are in good hands with tobz!

Based on the original poster. A single pump on 1200-1450 injectors should be enough for your goals on E85.
Well thats at least what I'm telling myself because you and i sound like we have the same goals in mind with the same apprehensions (I don't want to build the motor...nothing....absolutely NOTHING beats factory reliability).

I have an 2003 Evo with a Red that is dyno'd at Carz. Lucas has always been very helpful and knowledgeable in my dealings with him. His shop is well equipped and set up. The last dyno session I did with there with the RED resulted in 482HP/460TQ on race gas. Guess I got what was coming to me.
I do work on my own car and pay attention to maintenance, which seems almost too obvious to mention. People who can't afford to fix oil leaks on high performance motors should just not drive them until they can, or should carry a couple quarts with them and take the time to make sure there's enough inside the motor to keep it healthy. That's not a shop's fault, nor is any other issue that is related to the owner's decisions.
My .02...
As far as single or dual pumpers go, I'd say that you could get by up to about 500 HP on gas, but not on E85, which reduces that margin by about 30%. You don't need to put 2 pumps in the tank, though -- a Bosch 044 in series, using your in tank pump as a feeder, would do you pretty well...

I think I have read of people with this setup but didn't realize that was an inline (which always thought made more sense). Thanks for the insight. Sounds like the that will be right inline with the power goals I have.
Localtoys73 are you on a FP Red? Stock block?

I've got a spare brand new Bosch 044 fuel pump sitting here if anyone needs one. $190 shipped.
Be careful when you buy off E-Bay or similar sites, as there are now counterfeit Bosch 044s on the market.
Jay Racing has the genuine Bosch 044s and has been selling them for years to the racing community. That's where mine came from.
