Penthouse, We have Reds at 540-550hp on 35+psi on stock headstuds and a few 35R 600+hp cars on stock headstuds. The headstuds are fine as long as you are not knocking. Knock is what will raise the head, not psi or hp. fyi

so say if u on E85 and take out lots of timing , and set it to around 10 degree adv. timing, and crank boost up to 35psi on a 35r turbo and make around 600-700 whp, is stock head studs still ok???? And by the way, if u are on E85 and below 20 degree advance timing, i quanrantee your engine will NEVER Knock . The OP car have stock studs , 30r turbo, and on pump gas, so i just gave him a suggestion.

ps: just to back up what i just said, I DO work at a tuning shop. We work on Evos, supras, 240sx , etc. I pretty much know a bit about car tuning. thank you.

^ I have seen 2 cars at the 600hp+ level with stock headstuds running 30+psi and never had any problems and a **** ton of 500-600hp cars running 35+ never having problems. Headstuds are not needed in the stock motor. The rods or rod bolts will let go before the headstuds will. FACT and you can't argue against me, I don't care who or where you work. You just make them look bad! Call emery and ask him what messed his stock motor up, he had stock everything, minus the snail that gave him over 600hp... It was a rod bolt.

and crank boost up to 35psi on a 35r turbo and make around 600-700 whp, is stock head studs still ok????
To answer your question, yes. 1st off, to have 700hp you won't have a stock motor and no idiot would not upgrade headstuds while the motor is apart. Second off doing a 1x1 headstud job can cause more problems then if you had left the stock headstuds alone. If the headstuds seem to be stronger than the stock rods and rod bolts then why upgrade??? Save the $200 towards your motor build when the rod decides it's going to go threw the block.

Speaking of stock headstuds, have you tensile tested them to see where they stretch/break... I didn't think so.

My roomy and I have a 240 sr20 black top with a disco potato. Want to take 240s too? I didn't say a word about your tuning so don't get all defensive hot shot; that is if you are the tuner but I don't know if you are or not...

24 psi???

Stock headstuds are a lot stronger then people think.

That FP is going to explode pretty soon with that high of base fuel pressure.

Maybe now that two people have said it maybe penthouse will understand that you don't listen to ARP... They are trying to make money. Also, penthouse if you work for GSC tell Greg Mikey says hi. But I know you don't work for GSC... So where do you work man?
