Apexi Turbo Kit

There are not too many out there running this kit, so I thought I should share in this section.

Quick build list (look at my garage for full list):

Autronic SMC 1.99 PnP (speed density)
Built 2.0l 9:1 .020 over
Built Head WORKS 269 cams
Apexi turbo kit with TCW77 p22 turbo, 1.4bar WG spring
Perrin Intercooler
RC 1000cc Injectors
Stock Intake Manifold/Throttle body

Tuned by Chris at AMS, conservatively for Road Racing. Chris told me a set of Kelfords and an F1 IM, might make a big difference, but I am happy with it, for now.

Did yours come w/ the p22 housing or did you have to special order it? Nice numbers for RR, and you should follow his advice.

Different cams can wake it up as well. The 269s are not really very impressive in comparison to some of the ones on the market today to be honest.

Yea I know, what kind of gains do you think are possible with some Kelford 272's?

I'm debating on keeping mine. If I were to keep it, I would like to upgrade from the p20 housing.

Yea, I was happy when mine came with the p22. I wouldn't mind having the p25, but I have not been able to locate replacement housings...have you? It has been suggested to try and buy one from an RX7, the kits for those came with a p27. I am sure if you looked hard enough there has got to be a larger housing out there some where.

Yeah, when I first got it I contacted apex-i, and they offered all the different housings special ordered out of japan. If I remember correctly it was a pretty steep price, that made me think I might as well by another turbo if it breaks or if I want more pwr. I really like this turbo bc the pwr is so smooth. I would say the pwr is right in between the red/ black on 93 pump gas. I couldn't turn up the boost to the right operational range 34-38psi bc of the damn housing. That's why I went with the black. MY favorite set up thus far, soon to be tuned on E85.

I would say your right with the power falling between black and red on pump, but the tcw77 isn't out of steam at 8500rpm. ;-) When I upgrade, eventually...I am going with the 6265, unless AMS comes up with something better by then. However I plan to max this turbo out first and finish the rest of the car first. No E85 for me, I don't want to lug 50 gallons of it to the track to make it through the day, otherwise I would be tempted.
