STM Ricer back on the dyno
Where to start? I guess let me start with thanking everyone for their help and support!
Special thanks to.
Our customers, Without you none of this would be possible!
David Buschur, for countless hours of testing parts and developing some kick *** stuff!
Jon@TRE for the kick *** trannys we have been using over the years!
And last but not least, Everyone here at the shop. Simply the best team I could ever ask for.
So on to the car. This car has been through so much this year and is still going. The Buschur motor is still running strong after countless track passes and dyno time. it has been making over 600 whp since the end of last year running a best of 9.2 @158 mph on a DOT tire. Recently we decided we wanted to try and make a little more power. Out with the 6262 and in with the 6765. Installing the 6765 we thought it was going to instantly pick up a ton. Boy were we wrong! You know how everyone says "it's all in the parts combination"? They are more right than I could have ever thought! Stumped and asking questions for weeks trying to get to the bottom of this we finally made a move. While talking with David, he said he had a set of custom cams for me to try that he was taking out of his car to reinstall the BR272's as his car ran better on them. David said, the new ones are a little bigger and will lose some low end but it should gain about 20 whp up top. With that said had him ship them right out. As soon as they got here they were installed and the car was strapped down. First few pulls on low boost I was already having to change the fuel around quite a bit to get the car back in line. I knew something good was about to happen. After about 5 or so pulls the car went back up around 40 psi and the clutch started to slip a little bit. I really didn't want to stop as the power was already better than ever before. A few more pulls and we stopped at 43 psi as it (clutch) just would not hold it anymore. Every pull I had a smile on my face as the clutch slipped because it let me know it was just making more and more power...
Enough of all the talking lol Here is the dyno sheet so far. Remember the mid range is just not there yet as peak torque is where the clutch starts to slip and doesn't slow down until right before I let off. This sheet is with the smoothing off as well.
Here is a video from that night with a bunch of pulls on it in no particular order. In some of them you can hear the RPM's go up and the tires play catch up.
