It does seem that I might be leaving a decent amount of power on the table for the quiet exh. Completely worth it to me, as I would never even want to drive the car if it sounded like most. BTW, do you have any numbers from before and after the exh change, I'd be interested to see that.
The numbers i could provide were on different dynos and tune but even just swapping the exhaust with zero tuning it made a huge difference all around but if your looking for a quiet exhaust the fujitsubo can't be beat.
I understand you on the numbers, i'll be curious to see what ya trap at the track. Like you said thats the real test.

Is your fujitsubo muffler stamped on the bottom with a serial number?

I have no idea if it has a serial number. The guy I got if from claimed it was one of the very first RM-01a's made, sort of a "prototype" as he called it. He had it on a VII. Is there some significance to the serial number?

If it really makes that huge a difference, I may evenutally try the dual straight through 3" muff setup. Supposed to be as quiet or better than stock also.

exhaust is most likely holding it back. if you haven't done a boost leak test, that should be done.

Did extensive boost leak testing as I made my own upper SS IC pipe (and SS cold air intake). I wanted it short, but also wanted the stock battery. Ended up mounting the battery north/south in a SS tray I made. I can't TIG, so the MIG'd stainless welds are not sexy, but they don't leak. I don't think you can get a shorter pipe with the stock size battery.

Thanks for posting this. I've got a bone stock 04 and plan to do the same mods, wanting to keep it really quiet. Did you ever make any changes since this set-up?

Ordered a full 3" RRE Stealth (in full SS, which they usually do not do). It is a bit louder, but still pretty quiet. I did not get retuned.

Went to the track, only gained 1/2 MPH. Only got one run in as a brand new Shelby wrecked and they would only let you run 1/8th mile after that (said winds were too high ). Never did get back to the track again to see if it would do any better

So I put the fujitsubo back on for now, since power did not seem to be much different and it is very very quiet. I do have an HKS 7460, HKS cams, IC, inj and clutch ready to go in at some point, just haven't had time.

Did these tests occur on different types of dyno's because if so your not gonna get true results.

12.491 @ 108.6 with fujitsubo

only got one run with the stealth and it was 12.905 @ 109.2

now that I look at the slips again, may have more left in it with the stealth
as my 1/8 MPH was 85.04 on the 12.5 run and 83.17 on the 12.9 run.

May have to put that RRE back on and try again.

I'm sure, but it is representative enough. They were both the same type of dyno at least.

I'd bet there's more in the RRE exhaust too. You played a big game of ketchup there at the end for the 109.

You say the RRE is louder. At ton, or just a bit? How about drone? WOT? There are still some new Fuji exhausts out there so I'm trying to decide between those two options.

I don't think the exhaust is the reason you didn't make more HP. You can only get so far on stock injectors..unless you did have bigger ones when you went to the dyno?

I meaured db with Droid X phone app.
Fuji was well used and RRE brand new.

At idle fuji, 72, RRE, 72.
@ 3200 RPM Fuji 90, RRE 86

so I was stoked about RRE, but after just a couple hundred
miles, RRE was significantly louder. Never did remeasure sound.

Neither one was what I would call loud.
It is just the RRE can be heard some while driviing with windows up,
Fuji, sounds stock to me while I'm in the car (again windows up).
and it seemed power was close enough, at least at the level I am
at now.

So many cops in NJ, nice to be able to blast around
a little bit once in a while, silently.
