No I wouldn't agree. Depends on the cam and tuner. a cam with a high ramp rate helps lowend performance. Here is a before and after of my HKS 272/280 and my new Custom GSC Race cam 12mm. More aggressive than a Kelford 288 or 5R I didn't lose any downlow and my car kicks *** up top over the HKS 272/280 combo that I had. My cam has a lot of engineering involved but it paid off in the end.

Direct swap. I made 170+hp at 8k over the HKS cams and lost 0 downlow on .5psi less boost. That is only 25psi on a Black

Were these a one-off set, or are they available to the public? We can discuss this via PM if you would like. That is extremely impressive, and provided they aren't worth their weight in platinum, I would be interested in getting a set. PM me, or post up some information if possible. Awesome results, thanks for the information.

Full-Race Pro Stock manifold with the 1600 degree silver coating. The IM is stock, same with the TB, but the TB has some light porting and also has the Mil.Spec high pressure throttle body shaft gaskets installed.

Mikey cam requirements of 88mm and 100mm stroke motors are completely different. The 2.3 needs much more duration than 2.0 cams. Its very easy to choke a 2.3 liter with small cams. 88mm stroke does not respond the same. There are no cams tests done with the 2.3 liter. There were no monster gains in the AMS cam testing done with 2.0. Not like what you experienced with your stroker.

Thw results here are really impressive. And he is happy with it. He doesnt need big cams. the resulting gains would be dismal at the cost of idle quality.

I can't tell you what my duration is but I will tell you it is lower than the HKS that I replaced. It is not about advertized duration. there is a lot more to a cam than a durration. This cam will work for a 2.0 or 2.4 regardless. The cam was designed for a LR2.2 revving to 9200+. It was not even designed for my specific motor. I don't give a **** if no one else uses this cam. I'm not going to sit here and have a pissing battle.

btw idle on these cams are great. especially on a IX. His idle quality wouldn't change much at all. But what do I know

Thank you for the compliments everyone. It has been a long journey, but it feels good to have a car that is driving great and really pulling hard at WOT.

94AWD and Mikey, I agree with some of what both of you have to say. The cam will be more beneficial on a 2.3L for sure, but that is not to say that a more aggressive cam would not help my setup up top. I am just worried about losing the spool, but I am going to call GSC and see about a set of S2's and talk about their custom grinds. I will keep everyone in the loop.

Again, thanks for the information everyone.

Nice build, but if you were going to build it and not have the intention of reving it, you should've went with the 2.3 or 2.4l to get a way faster spool.

I like having the option to rev it. I started piecing together the build before the LR high displacement motors became en vogue. There are some great options in the LR 2.3 and even 2.4 displacements now that are doing amazing things. If I were to do it all over again, it would be a very difficult decision on motor choice.

I basically wanted a motor that could take anything I could possibly throw at it, any turbo, bolt on, fuel that was possible. I have yet to hear of a BR 2.1L fail, and seeing some of the HP/TQ numbers and track times they have put down, it is quite an impressive platform.
