Cool Mellon Tuning – Dylan´s Evo 8 MR - HTA3794R @ 32 psi Pump Gas Tune

Name: Dylan
Evo 8 2005 6-speed MR
Twin Walbro Pump
RC 1000 cc injectors
91 octane @ 32 psi
Tbe
BR Race FMIC
Driven Innovation intake
Hypertune throttle body
BF 272 cams
BR HTA3794R .82 tubular
BR 2.0 Stage III head
VD 605hp/488tq

Well we just finished tuning the all New HTA3794R turbo on one of our customers car to see if we could get more power out of his setup , Dylan was on the quest of more high rpm power on low octane fuel so he let go of his BR HTA3582R turbo and made the switch to the Hta3794R wich got him into the Drag Powerband he was looking for , its interesting to see how we have been making some power producing changes to the car overtime and we decided we would share a nice comparison with his car. When we started out he was on the stock Block then we past over to the BR 2.0 and BR stage 3 Head wich made a big difference in the power producing platform .

Here is the Comparison with the changes we have made overtime
Green - HTA3582 stock shortblock and head, DI intake, Hypertune TB, BF272 cams 91 octane @ 32psi
Blue - HTA3582 Buchur Stage III 2.0 9:1 and Head, DI intake, Hypertune TB, BF272 cams 91 octane @ 32psi
Red - HTA3794 Buchur Stage III 2.0 9:1 and Head , DI intake, Hypertune TB, BF272 cams 91 octane @32psi

Here is a nice comparison of our Mellon Tuning evo vs Dylan HTA3794R setup on pump gas
Yellow - Mellon Tuning EVO 8 Buschur Stage III 2.0 10:1 and Head, stock ported intake and tb, BF272 cams 93 octane @ 30psi

Once again Dylan its has been our pleasure working on your setup again

I'd be curious to see what it does on a dyno, it seems like at that boost its down about 80whp in the VDR from what I'd expect in real life. I know that turbo has to be moving some serious air at 32psi.

Good work on 91 to be sure.

Unless thats a bump it looks like it should be closer to 650whp at the rate it was climbing.

Maybe a cleaner run is needed.

This dyno chart will be similar to a dynojet. It was from the final tune, not a dyno session and later de-tuned for high rpm high speed racing. There may be a few more ponies in it but this car is drag raced in the desert heat on 91 octane so we want some wiggle room. Unfortunately that's the only fuel available there. If it were on e85 or c16 I'm sure it would do another 100+awhp easily. We just can't run much timing/boost they way it is.

what's important are the gains right where he needs them (6000rpm +)

Mellon maybe i missed something but what is the setup of the silver animal again. I mean it looks like you car out hustled this customers even when he was on stock block.

Nice numbers either way

yeah I noticed that too, the HTA86 shouldn't be getting into power sooner than a HTA82. His timing was very dismal back then. We more recently determined that it was false knock and filtered most of it out on his 3794 in the low/mid range area and left it sensitive to knock at full boost/high rpm areas.

also he was running the big intake and tb vs my stock ported intake and tb.

my full mod list as the car sits right now:

BR HTA86 @ 38psi on e85 700awhp. (9:1 engine, no 10:1 runs on e85 yet)
BR HTA86 @ 30psi on 93 600awhp (9:1 and 10:1 engine)

Buschur 2.0L ~10:1 CR
Buschur Stage 3 head
Buschur BF272 cams
Buschur twin walbro fuel pumps
Buschur 3" tbe, test pipe, bullet muffler
Buschur 3" intake pipe + Mas adapter
Buschur UICP and LICP
Buschur Mini Battery
Buschur Race FMIC
Buschur COP
Buschur Fuel Rail
ARP head studs
PPI ported stock intake manifold
PPI 65MM throttle body
FIC 2150cc injectors
Tilton Twin Disc Carbon clutch
Buschur, Bushwacker Transmission upgrade
