With stock 9, stock UICP, stock exhaust including catalytic converter, etc. - 100% stock, with just an MBC or ECU boost control and a good tune, you should be able to break 300 whp on 91octane (I did). Then if you add meth/water injection and turn the boost up a bit, you can get north of 350 whp.

300-350 whp on dynojet is very common and reliable for the evo VIII-IX. A good tune, mbc, decent more free flowing exhaust will likely put you right above the 300mark. Add cams, intake, injectors and walbro fuel pump will surely do it. Basically adding the neccessary supporting mods so that you can boost around 23-24 psi with air/fuel ratio around 11.1 to 11.3 and timing going from 4 to 14 degree at WOT with zero knock will do.

Here is mine is an 05 VIII MR, self tuned, BuddyClub 272 cams, AEM intake, full exhaust test pipe with a large resonator, hallman MBC, APS bov, and boosting 23.5 psi on straight Mobil 91 gas.

buschur with 2 mufflers is probably pretty good.. or contact road race engineering about their stealth exhaust setup and explain you want something very quiet but not overly restrictive.

What supporting mods do you need? I'm running tbe, test pipe, licp, mbc, and a tune and am pushing 23-23.5 psi. I can't ramp up to 14 degrees on my car, it may be phantom knock. When is the walbro fuel pump necessary?

WORKS has two quite mufflers.

The first one is the "stealthmuffler" where they take a stock muffler and modify it.

And then they regular muffler for their TBE is very quite and Cali approved.

Check them out if your looking for a quite exhaust.

you're probably need to smooth out the timing transitions between loads. Prior to 14 I can only ram up to 11-12, after spending quite amount of times (that is a good thing of self tune, you have all the times) to make the transitions smoothly, I'm able to shoot to 14 with 23.5-24 psi max.

My load shoots to 260 at 3000-3500 then by 4000 it's stays at 240 until about 6000 it tapers to 220-200. So the transition of timing in the lower rpms?
