nice peak numbers, but your not making peak torque until 8500rpm in 3rd? don't you think the turbo is a bit to big? thats some seriously huge lag. i would bet you will be faster down the drag strip with a 35r, for the simple fact that in 1st gear i don't think you'll have enough load to even spool the 70mm turbo

The dyno sampling stopped at 9200rpm which is why it cuts off there. We made pulls to 10,000rpm which if it sampled all the way through would show the powerband broader and might even show a bit more HP up top.
There are 3 HTA86 evos at this shop that make 680-750whp and we've already compared w/ a lil' fun. Not to mention i used to own a 35r... trust me, its a split second before this one comes on and flies by. The "paper data" isnt enough to go by, lol. Have you driven an evo setup similar to this to base your theory? Prior to doing this we've had experience w/ Hondas and "late" is relative to max rpm. If you're spinning max higher, then the rpm it comes on isnt late to you. Its late to the guy who cant rev that high.
I can tell you this... I dont have to guess or think... i've driven it. It will spin all 4 tires in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and get a little squirrely in 4th gear. It has no problem spooling in 1st gear. I shift at 9800-10,000rpm. My powerband may be late to someone who normally has to shift at 8500-9000.... but i rev much higher. The powerband is shifted up obviously.
Also, the RPM pickup on the dyno was a few hundred rpm off. Im not sure why and we didnt bother to mess w/ it. Mostly concerned w/ using it to measure HP increases/curves during tuning.

But all that aside... I don't like to speculate... I posted the dyno as exactly as it showed. I'll also post the timeslip as we'll be at an NHRA sanctioned track tomorrow assuming weather and all things are well and as usual I will be posting results w/ data. I'll let this info speak for itself i guess.

if it helps... think of it simply as a garrett 4294r equipped evo revving to 10krpm.
nothing new... its been done, and they get out of 1st gear just fine, lol.... and 802whp @ 39psi is pretty normal. (im just excited because i've never made that much HP) but in reality its the norm i guess...
Most guys that push the 42r to 45-50psi will eclipse the 900-1000whp mark. (depending on trim)

Although this custom turbo is in a smaller S-cover package to look and fit like a 35r... it behaves just like a 42r. The entire CHRA is from a garrett 4294 anyways. I was hoping it would help it spool better... But it does come on quicker when you drive it and more importantly it doesnt drop out of boost during shifts... which if anything is what this experiment w/ the smaller housing was for. but yes i understand this graph shows otherwise.

Anyhoo... like i said earlier... we'll get some real world track results tomorrow and share!!

it would be very interesting to see how it stacks up to a well built hta86 car. let us know how it does in the 1/4.

what tires are you using on the street? and i presume drag slicks for your 1/4 pass?

well, INLINE has two HTA86 cars right now. One did 680whp on this same MD dyno and ran 10.2@140mph w/ a bad 1.8 60ft.
The other did 700whp on boost and near 800whp w/ nitrous. This car hasnt seen the track as its now currently down to get head porting work and some other mods.
They also have a stroker 6765 which will be tuned out this wknd as well. So yes, we'll have plenty to reference from as we like to experiment. Im sure the data will benefit the evo community, as I definately get alot from my friends on here.
As for real world street feel/runs... my black evo is the craziest we've felt so far. lag or not... it definately scoots, but yes... we'll need track data to review for sure.

The tires that spun on the roll were falken azenis rt615s. We do have a set of Hoosier DRs 245/45/17 and also a set of 26" QTPs for the track.

they have done it on their Hondas... but i was afraid of using them from stories. but honestly, you're right i could have since i dont daily the car. the carbon twin disc and c16 already stops me from driving it, lol. This shop is already mapping out another large build for a friend of mine... so i might toss that idea in there
