yeah sorry to hear. i wonder if the US really got the updated bearing version (they still showed the old part number...).

as a side note i dyno'd my 7460r last week. it made 370hp/320tq 100oct @28psi. stock cams/engine, gst mustang dyno. i asked for reliable track power.

No luck with HKS or anything my HKS turbo is now 1700$ decorative item next to my alarm clock. I purchased a coated, ported, FP 71HTA with the 84mm Compressor cover and will be finalizing the tune with this soon. Not quite as responsive as the HKS turbo but it still spools pretty close to stock.

That is pretty horrible, my friend. The 71HTA is slightly larger than the HKS so I understand that. You are still rocking the 2.0L, right? Is Phoung doing the tune for you as well?

I have been thinking about pulling the EF4 turbo off and see how a stock IX turbo feels on the 2.4LR. I bet it will be pretty fun.

71hta seems like a fun turbo even on stock block here is what one did i recently tuned.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...5-powered.html

imagine this thing on a 2.4 lol. and that is with the guy hitting it way late in the rpm.
it'll reach around full boost identical to the stock turbo. On a larger displacement it would make stupid high tq and prob
full boost around 3k.

HKS has been sucking the dick with regards to these turbo's and warrantying them.

Tom, you are the one that needs to keep me under control about going with a smaller turbo. Would a peak torque of this amount still be safe on a 2.4LR...?

Ya our initial VD results @ 30psi with the FP 71HTA were 446whp/426wtq summer tune since were in the 105+ temps here in AZ mild timing. I found a massive boost leak three days later that literally sent my AFRS from 12.1 to 13flat when i fixed it....... so i havent been getting on it at all for a while, Going tomorrow night to adjust the tune a bit and see where we end up.

To be honest I want more power, and quite a bit more of it. I almost bought a BB FP Red the other day, but i think im going to wait and save some money and buy some NT03's and ditch these heavy Rota's and also buy some KW V3 coils for the car to complete it. I want to do some track events and i really dont need more power but of course i want it.

It really does suck because they are some seriously badass little turbo's (when they are working and not broken that is)

So much for Ball Bearing reliability. I might send mine off to get fixed, but a certain turbo builder who happens to have some spare HKS unit parts laying around.
