Evo 8 HKS GTII 7460r, GSC S2, FIC 1450cc, E85 NEW RESULTS!

I figured i would just update this post, I had my 2.0 built just a few weeks ago and went back for round 2 on the dyno.
Build-
Wiseco HD 10.5:1 pistons
Eagle Rods
ACL Rod, Main, & Thrust bearings
ARP L19 Head studs
MAP Beehive Valve springs,
Ported Intake manifold
and lightly ported valve pockets in the head.

We set the boost in @ 35psi to see what she would do in the 106 degree weather and here are the results. A couple things you will notice is that the spool up is much slower- this is the huge difference we see in AZ in the summertime, also things to mention are that my old run of 445/430 was in 65 degrees, i also dynod back in April in 85 degrees and the power then was 432/410 so the heat here seriously affects the power that were making.

For those of you who had seen my thread in the show and shine, i bought this turbo a while back and was waiting for a long time for the cams to come in.

Today i got to the dyno after being tuned unfortunately my spark issue is holding me back more than we thought. Time for a COP ignition, best #'s of the day were 445whp 430wtq
so not bad but still a little bit disappointing. these two runs were just done at different boost levels(29psi-31psi range) to try and keep it from blowing out spark. You can see though how fast this turbo builds boost. also the timing on my map is very conservative, running only 15 degrees out top and 4 degrees at peak torque. Im going to order a COP and see what we can do from there.

I think with a COP, some fresh plugs, and a little more aggressive timing you can stand to gain another 20-30hp.

I'm not sure what heat range you're running, but have you thought about trying a step colder? Maybe a BR7EIX or denso equivalent???

Spool looks nice but numbers definately are a bit disappointing. That car on SD with those mods\cams and E85 realistically should be high 400's imo. Hopefully getting a COP should help that some.

Yes i am on SD, i just ordered a SpoolinUP COP system and yes it should make high 4xx's with the boost turned up and more aggressive timing
so once i get my COP we will try to get some more power out of it.

Great so far..I am looking forward to further tuning of it and how the S2's contribute to the HKS turbo.

p.s. what valve springs and retainers are you running with the GSC S2s?

Just curious, has anyone tried switching from an iridium plug to a standard copper racing plug to prevent blowout?

i thought Iridium plugs required less energy to spark?

No, they are just more durable so OE's use them to keep warranty work to a minimum.

If you look up resistance values you'll find that iridium and platinum are pretty horrible conductors!

In a true racing environment you cant beat a non-resistor copper plug- but on a street vehicle non-resistor plugs can cause some funny feedback through radios, etc.

I'm running stock valve springs and retainers with no issues.

The car is holding boost extremely well at 7k holding 27-29psi out top dependent on the gear.

Has anybody compared numbers from the hks cams that were designed for that turbo vs the gsc2 cams?

I don't think I'm going to get back on the dyno, the spark issue has been fixed so now I've turned the boost up to 31-32psi and were just gonna leave it at that based on the increase from last time I'm sure at this level its making 450-460whp which is fine.
