If in the opening post the terms stock block and stock motor are both used, then I just assumed that we are refering to a totally unbuttoned stock longblock. I guess that I am wrong though TS?

I have to admit. You guys (STM) have the nicest looking used manifolds. Ever. When I say used, they just have a great coloring to them. Where as other manifolds really lack the luster you would expect out of such an expensive piece. Do you use a different grade of steel than others? It's been bugging me ever since I saw Shawnas' car.
Congratulations on the numbers though. Really is an awesome set up. The car came together nicely.

On these forums, it is common usage and knowledge that when the terms, "stock block", and/or "stock motor", or "stock engine", are employed.... The person is refering to a totally stock, unbuttoned, longblock assembly. Otherwise he would have specified, for example, a ported head w, modded valvetrain and headstuds, etc in the modlist. You are creating a tempest in a tea cup.
not true.. stock block = stock shortblock on this forum. lots of stock block cars have ported heads, valvetrain, cams, etc.
block is used on this forum in reference to the shortblock
shortblock = bottom end
longblock = head, block
the bragging rights are for how much hp/tq the bottom end can handle.. the head isnt gonna matter as much as the rods when it comes to breaking stuff.. think about it.

The entire (and I mean all) rest of the racing world uses terms that everyone can understand and are specific so that nobody has to wonder what is meant. "Short block" and "long block" have been around for decades and communicate specifically as stated by tscompusa.
As we've already discovered, this is not a stock "long block" because the heads have had some minor modifications (camshafts), which you thought it was, Sparky... It is a stock "short block" car, which I still think is really impressive. I'm not taking anything from the OP's accomplishment with this car.
