Thanks for educating me. He did say..."stock motor" in the OP. I guess that is even open to interpretation

If in the opening post the terms stock block and stock motor are both used, then I just assumed that we are refering to a totally unbuttoned stock longblock. I guess that I am wrong though TS?

if it says stock motor/engine then id say longblock in that case yes. and since no cams are mentioned here then this car is probably stock longblock.

It has Comp 272s, and arp head studs. The head has never been removed.

The fact that this was done on a Mustang Dyno makes this numbers even sweeter. Great job STM!

I have to admit. You guys (STM) have the nicest looking used manifolds. Ever. When I say used, they just have a great coloring to them. Where as other manifolds really lack the luster you would expect out of such an expensive piece. Do you use a different grade of steel than others? It's been bugging me ever since I saw Shawnas' car.

Congratulations on the numbers though. Really is an awesome set up. The car came together nicely.

block is used on this forum in reference to the shortblock

shortblock = bottom end
longblock = head, block

the bragging rights are for how much hp/tq the bottom end can handle.. the head isnt gonna matter as much as the rods when it comes to breaking stuff.. think about it.

This just goes to show that I'm not the only one who is searching for clarification and understanding.

The entire (and I mean all) rest of the racing world uses terms that everyone can understand and are specific so that nobody has to wonder what is meant. "Short block" and "long block" have been around for decades and communicate specifically as stated by tscompusa.

As we've already discovered, this is not a stock "long block" because the heads have had some minor modifications (camshafts), which you thought it was, Sparky... It is a stock "short block" car, which I still think is really impressive. I'm not taking anything from the OP's accomplishment with this car.

How much boost? The owner could have got 450awhp with pump. It seems silly to use e85 for a goal of 450awhp

you can get far more then 450 with 93 pump. trust me my car was almost double this last year. stock block, 35r, M2 etc. its all in how hard you wanna push it and knowing that eventually something will go pop. great numbers ryan, good luck at the track this year
