The 3.8" thick Garrett core is considered by many to be the best, most efficient core available. You can get this core in an ETS, Buschur Racing, or CBRD FMIC. An advantage with this core is no cutting necessary for proper fitment.

Personally, I'd like to try a 5", or 6" thick ETS IC. ETS has a new core design which they claim is extremely efficient. Of course I don.t mind trimming the bumper a bit and since I have a JDM front, then I have no bumper supports anyway.

But, I'd be willing to bet that if you were to take a survey regarding which IC is best for our Evo's the Garrett 3.8" core would win, hands down.

Im having the same problem with my car. Needs a new cooler on it.. But I dont really have the $$$.

I can push 26psi, but the turbo seems to be struggling to push more. Running a 25psi actuator.

My intercooler definatly needs to be changed out. Need to decide on what cooler to use..

Plazmaman - 90mm/3.55" (API Core)
CBRD - 96mm/3.8" (Garrett Core)
ETS - 101mm/4" (?? Core)
ETS - 127mm/5" (?? Core)

Well I have a plazmaman intercooler - now i am not saying that there other bigger evo 9 intercoolers wouldn't be sufficient, However, I have the direct bolt on version and its suspose to support 700HP, i guess with less than 20 PSI boost lol

If the Garrett Core is what has been said to be the tried and tested and produce good results then Id be going for that.

ETS - 101mm/4" (ETS Core) ** We can also build the intercooler with a 3.8" or 4.5" garrett core
ETS - 127mm/5" (ETS Core)
Fixed. Thanks!

I just made my most recent trip to the dyno on a 4" new style ETS core. Food for thought.

I made a lot more power on E-85 @31 psi vs my old 93 octane 25 psi tune but my intercooler has a 3.625" core.
