Stock Evo 8 Turbo
Buschur stage III head
Stock Cams
FIC 1250 injectors
AEM Uego Wideband
3” TBE test 02 housing
Cone Stock Filter
Rubber Intake ETS 3.5” with upper and lower pipes
Tial Q VTA BOV
E85 @ 30 PSI
VD 364Hp/364Tq
Jon has a 2.4 liter Build motor on a Build head and using the stock Evo 8 turbo , we got the car filled up on E-85 and started to tune it , BAAMM ! Instant Boost we moved it up in to the 30psi and the car would just boost extremely fast down low, this is one brave little turbo but since eveything in life is not always fair, yes u guessed it it started to die up top in the High Rpm area , so we talked about upgrading to a bigger turbo for the car to have a thicker powerband .

unfortunately the built motor was making so much noise down low that we had to start the pulls above 3500 rpm. Maybe next time we'll adjust the knock sensor sensitivity down there when he does a bigger turbo.

To the owner of the car, if you're reading this and would like some recomendations on tuners who can do the job without needing to sell you new parts, feel free to pm me.
You used to do good things Mellon. I hope this makes you want to get back to those old habits.

I agree with this entirely. A customer came to you to do a job and you failed to finish. He didn't ask for a partial tune and a turbo recommendation, did he? Perhaps he enjoys having a very usable power band and not needing to rev to the moon.

The tune is incomplete guys per the customers request. The car has a bad idle speed control servo so the customer wanted to call it a day until that's fixed. Once that's corrected we're going to correct the stalling and look into adjusting the knock sensor sensitivity in the problematic area.
However, the customer never intended on keeping it stock turbo, his plan was for something like the FP Black so he may wait until that's installed with the new ISC to re-tune it.
have a little more faith in us

Sounds good on the bigger turbo. My built motor needed adjustment on the knock tables as well. When he does go bigger can you post from 3000 up? Too many tuners or owners seem to not wanna show the lower part of the rpm band and probably so because they like to hide the fact that their monster hp cars are really laggy turds down low which make horrible street cars.

yep, my 2.0 was setting off quite a bit of false knock at 3500-4500 areas where the exhaust is quite raspy once I put the header on especially. Being that I have an HTA86 it wasn't making squat for boost down there yet would shoot up to ~ 16 counts of knock randomly regarless of any amount of timing/fuel adjustments. But now it's relatively knock free there with some minor knock sensor tweaks.
we usually show 2500-8000 so that will be no problem going forward with Jon's next time around.

haha I know right, it's a wild setup. I think he blew the old motor and so this was a forced upgrade on a budget so it didn't get cams yet. I don't know if cams would help, the turbo is already out of steam as it is with the 2.4L. I'm not sure what he compression is but if it were high enough that might help the stock turbo make some pressure up top.
