Well I figured he is already at 447 tq, any more without reducing the tq might be kaboom, but if it can stay at 400 or so and just up the whp, it'd be a different story

I think he already understands the risk he's taking with his car. People push these motors all the time. I've made almost 530wtq on stock rods and pistons, and I took my motor back down and it was fine. I've seen people blow motors on way less torque then that.

when people say 400wtq is the limit, is that on a mustang or dynojet? I know its not set in stone, but what is the foundation to this statement?

Thank you

Nothing is documented, my friend. This is merely an unspoken rule and a collective threshold level as it relates to the stock bottom end. All 4G63s react different. From the quote below, you can see this as being fact. When I threw my first rod, I was only making 405wtq on the stock VIII turbo.

For my own peace of mind, I am not going for anything greater than 400wtq until I build the bottom end this time. Lessons learned and applied.

OP: Are you glad that you decided to keep the EVO instead of selling it?

I just don't understand the gamble, if you're gonna push 500+ then why not play it safe? Failures at that level can be catastrophic and cost more to repair than if it was built. Awesome stuff though, you got ***** I'll give you that.

Torque is the monster that destroys rods, my friend. Making 500whp can be achieved while keeping torque levels in check through timing variations and other aspects during tuning.

Yes I understand that but I don't understand the need to make high HP on a stock block? Is it about the money because like I said a failure could cost more.

High horsepower is the not culprit for a destroyed shortblock. Like I said, torque is the monster that results a a rod poking through the shortblock.
