I don't know if it's because the pull was started late, or what, but IMO an HTA3582, esp. .63AR should spool up better than that on an Evo 9. I've seen HTA3582 charts off Evo 8's that spool better in 3rd gear. I'd definitely look everything over carefully and possibly get a second opinion.

best advice i can give you is DEFINITLY stick with a 2.0 with atleast 9.8:1 compression... if your a 1/4 mile type of guy you will be happy with something like that, with the higher compression you will get that low end tq and still be able to rev the car to 9k or more depending on mods... just my 2 cents

lets see your on stock block AND stock clutch how bout you start with the basics and do a clutch. i bet this car has a VERY weak timing curve to save the stock clutch. if they got this 82 to hit hard that clutch would be done!!!! all you need is a built 2.0 and a twin disk mid 400's trq and good response on that 82, pretty sure last time i was looking at 2.4l's they have some head gasket issues....

Read this thread, then make your choice. Keep in mind that high revs put a lot of stress on an engine and should only be done in a vehicle meant for top end racing. Street/hwy stroker all the way!

I just got my 2.3/hta86 build done. I am currently still Tuning, but so far, I LOVE this turbo on the 2.3. I think it spools very easily on the street, but yet, you can drive around town with some peppy response without getting into boost, if you dont want to. This is on the hta86 too. If you are a full out 1/4 mile guy, I would stick with a 2.0 and rev to the moon though lol.
