vmrevo9's BBK Full mustang dyno results

so i went with a friend to get his car tuned at PRS in Sanford, Fl. after watching my friend get tuned i decided to see where my car was power wise on their mustang dyno.

after talking with Mike (tuner) i had an idea of what my setup should be producing and he was pretty cool enough to give me some tips on how to improve/eliminate some knock we were seeing around 6500 which killed some power. also on the dyno it was richer (10.8) than what the car usually sees on the street (11.3-11.5) in that RPM range.
the car was previously tuned by a couple of people. than i decided to tune it myself and smooth everything out and try to get it where i wanted it.

mods are
Ported BBK Full
Ported Stock Exhaust manifold
ebay o2 housing
LICP
GSC S2 cams
GSC beehive springs stock seats/retainers
VRSF 3.5" intercooler
Megan 3" downpipe and resonated testpipe
HKS sport catback (tapers within the muffler)
MBC set to ~27psi
FIC 1100cc high impedance injectors
ARP head studs
Spoolinup COP with denso 1 step colder iridiums set to .022 gap
perrin intake
Stock UICP
Stock Block
Stock Head (except cams and springs)
Stock intake manifold and TB
Stock crushed IX DV

first pull was 339hp and 326tq
second pull was 349hp and 325tq
third pull was 355 and 324 tq

All pulls were in 4th gear.

video of the last pull

i pulled a degree of timing from 6500 rpm and up and it helped with adding 6hp but some knock was still present. could have been a cause from the rich AFR as well, although on my way home i wanted to see how rich it really was and was able to duplicate the 10.8 which surprised me because i have tuned it to be in the ~11.4 but i also noticed that my mechanical boost gauge was not moving at all. so i immediately thought i had a boost leak.

the next morning i looked around and found that the hose going to my boost gauge had popped off. so i wonder if the hose was off during the dyno pulls which could have resulted in my car being richer than normal and causing the knock.

i'll be doing some data logging soon to compare and see. VD in dynojet mode has put the car in the 400 range (from 402-412). Mike did the correction math and the 355 turned to 407 which was close to what VD shows.

all in all it was a blast especially getting to see this shop and talking with Mike. the crew at PRS were all pretty cool and willing to help. i wish i was closer to shops like this. if anybody is in the orlando/Sanford area make sure to stop by and check out this shop.

Thanks!

It was Hot but not too bad. Since their dyno sits in the corner it has alot of stagnent air in the front of the car.

thats why so many people like to street tune.. my max boost was 2-3 psi different on the street opposed to the dyno

Why is it that the boost is higher on the street than on the dyno? I also noticed that on the dyno I'm seeing 30-31 psi vs 32-34 spike on the street.

a mustang dyno can attempt to "mimic" the street, but cannot do so 100%. ie "real" air being forced thru your FMIC or radiator etc, they attempt to represent the load placed on the car, but its all based on math

Hopefully when I return from deployment I may swap out the mbc for a 3-port and add an oil catch can. Than I'll have it retune and dyno'd
