GSC S1 int, S2 exh, 24 psi HTA71 IX MR

These aren't exactly back to back runs, but the conditions were pretty close. Neither chart is using SAE correction, though I know if I apply SAE to the 387 chart, it drops to 366, I'm assuming a similar drop on the "before" chart.

To be honest, I didn't really watch the boost gauge on this run, I was more interested in AFR which looked great. I just installed the cams yesterday. I *am* using the stock valvetrain. I used EVO IX beehives and retainers on my DSM with 11.0mm lift cams for many miles and revved to 8k without issue.

I still have an ETS LICP to throw on in place of my Injen lower pipe, and I've reached out to Curt Brown to get a ported exhaust manifold in the works. I'm also damn near out of injector at 96% IDC on my 680's, running 11:1. I will have a set of ID1000's in place when I take this thing up to Devon at Boostin Performance in mid October.

Ok, the chart:

Overall I'm very happy with the cams, but I don't have much seat time with them yet, just busy with other stuff. I was not expecting gains like this but hey, I'm not complaining either. The install went smooth, no lifter tick afterwards, and idle is fine though I did raise it to about 975 to smooth it out even more. It has a slight lope but nothing crazy.

Lastly, you'll notice I have my weight listed at 3350. A few things on that: that is counting my amp, sub (ported JL Audio 12W3) and enclosure, plus I added components that easily have 10# on the stock speakers, lol, and cruise control. When I bought the car, the previous owner had a dynojet readout of 330 whp. I didn't change anything, plugged in the numbers you see on the left and ran on the best road we have nearby and it came up with exactly 330 whp so I *think* it's pretty close. Even if the actual numbers aren't perfect, the conditions and road are the same between runs so the difference from before to after should be well represented IMHO.

Thanks for lookin, any suggestions or questions are welcome.

Why not just put in upgraded valve springs and retainers?

I thought I made this clear in my post but I'll reiterate:

Neither cam has lift above 11.0 mm
Stock IX valvetrain is capable of handling 11.0mm lift

So why upgrade something that doesn't need to be upgraded? Lastly, I'm only making power to the mid 7's if that. If I had these cams and had to rev above 8k, I'd replace the valvetrain. Since I don't have lift > 11.0mm nor do I rev to or past 8k, the stock valvetrain is fine.

The lower graph is stock cams, the higher graph is the new cam combo.

Edit - I feel like 370 would be a number closer to reality. I'll know for sure in a few weeks when Devin gets a hold of it. It'll still be VD with a street tune but he knows how to mesh the numbers better with reality. It was only 65* out when I ran the car yesterday.

On that note, is there any option whatsoever for a cold-air setup on a IX? I'd love to keep IAT's down somewhat, especially in summer months.

Awesome write up, thanks for sharing! I've been wondering why no one has tried this cam combo and some others. How do you like it so far?

After installing the ETS LICP today, I haven't taken it for another run, just making sure everything else is up to snuff - idle, cruise, etc... but spool seems to have improved back to what it was before the cams. It might all just be in my head, who knows. I didn't feel like I lost an appreciable amount of spool after the cams but now with the better LICP, it seems really good for this combo. I haven't even wound it all the way out with the new LICP yet.

Next up is a Curt Brown ported OEM exhaust mani. I'm going to need injectors too, hoping to get those both done before the trip up to Chicago. Next year will bring a 65mm TB (Mil Spec?) and a Curt Brown ported intake manifold. And after that? I got nothin...
