Hta71 vs HTA Green Downgraded :) - VD
Hey guys,
I just downgraded from the Green to the HTA 71 and I have some results.
I tried to make this an apples to apples comparison, but there are some differences in the temps, tune and boost, none-the-less, I think you'll get the point.
My goals were to pick up mid-range torque, think i did that in spades with very little sacrifice in top end.
Notice points at 3000 and 3500 rpm's, there's an increase of ~100 & ~75 ft/lbs respectively.
Also note that from 5200 to redline is almost a wash, a bit more tuning should be able to get my top end in line.
Also note the 4.11 FD and 10º air temp change.
The car feel MUCH more responsive, actually feels much faster
93 octane
HTA71
ETS 3.5” Intercooler
ETS Lower intercooler pipe
272 Kelfords
FIC 1100 injectors
walbro 255
Open air filter
tephra v7
ecu boost with gm bcs
3" full exhaust with Tanabe Medallion touring catback

Do you think the green would have been closer if AFR were the same for both?
It baffles me that the 71 pretty much makes the same power.

nice..but how is it possible that a 68mm compressor wheel makes more power than a 73mm at similar boost and same octane fuel ?? faster spool is expected. but power?

Kaj, you are going to miss this lower end, no doubt in my mind....I'd almost recommend sticking with the 71 and maybe getting some more aggressive cams/intake/SD to open up the top end some more.
I've been self tuning for 20+ years on the dsm platform, but I'm sure they're things I'm not doing "properly"
Example, I'm only able to get 6-8 ° running at the top with rich afr 10.8 or so. I've never been one to consistently achieve 15 ° @ 11.5 at these load levels (270-280) like others seem to be able to get....maybe it's rich knock and I'm too nervous to lean past it...lol

I'll miss the low end, absolutely. But, it had to be done. I am swapping some s1 cams. No doubt that would have helped with the 71 as well.
All in all, when I'm booking around the track at 5-7 rpm, I need that power..especially on the long straights. The 71 was trying best it could to hold up LOL.

man and I was so undecided between the 71hta and the fp green cause I wasnt sure if the 71 would make me satisfied. Happy with my choice for the 71 hta! I'm gonna keep this jewel as long as I can lol.
