I recently shaved some weight with a lightweight battery replacement too. I previously had a Odyssey PC680 battery with a Muse Motorsports aluminum tray/mounting bracket. That was 16.23 pounds:

Odyssey PC680 battery (w/brass battery terminals): 14.33 lb.
Muse Motorsports small battery tray: 1.90 lb.

Since the PC680 was on its last legs after about four years of use, and having killed it dead at least 30 to 40 times, I decided to try a lithium-ferrous-phosphate motorcycle battery as I've seen some local racers and autocrossers using them. I considered Shorai and Ballistic; I went with Ballistic since the dimensions of their "Evo2" 12-cell battery (part # 100-012) were workable, and their warranty is a little better than Shorai—both companies advertise a "3-year warranty," but Shorai only gives you a six-month exchange if the battery is defective, prorated replacement cost after that; Ballistic offers a one-year exchange, prorated after 12 months.

Ballistic claims the 100-012 weighs 2.44 lb:

http://www.ballisticparts.com/produc...ies/12cell.php

- but they lie: mine weighed 2.75 pounds. Yeah, that's only a little over 1/4 pound difference, but when consider how little the battery weighs overall, that's a misrepresentation of 13%!

With the brass battery terminal posts from the old setup, the Ballistic 12-cell battery weighs just a hair over 3 lb:

The mounting plate I made out of 1/4"-thick ABS plastic... aluminum would have been better, but I didn't have any handy. I need to replace the plastic zipties with something more reliable, like stainless steel ties:

So, total weight: 3.25 pounds. Almost a 13-POUND weight savings over the PC680 mini battery + the CNCed aluminum mounting bracket.

In the car... and yes, it starts my car (2.3L stroker, 10.5:1 C/R) just fine. This Ballistic 100-012 battery currently sells for $167 shipped on amazon.com or on eBay (same vendor, MC Powersports):

Works great, definitely improves brake pedal feel on the road course, no fitment issues or other issues, other than unfortunately it does add weight to the car...
