mine is benig built to be a track *****. I have airbag harnesses and all door wiring harnesses, sunroof harnesses, etc removed. So, yeah AC isnt that big a deal. It will have heat for now, but depending on hardcore I become, I may get rid of it next year.
I wish I had money, I would buy an Ariel Atom instead of building an Evo!

I dunno about that, Dudical. I am trying to drop weight as much as I can. But, not dropping heat, blower and dash is probably a 100 pounds, you think? I heard most of the drag cars like the AMS weigh at 2900 pounds with the extreme weight reduction they have done - I wonder if I will be below 3100 lbs, I sure hope so!

And I think they weigh less than that. I mean my car is just over 3000 with me in it and around 2 gal of gas.
Dash is very heavy, I wish I could take that out. If you really went all out, taking out dash and gutting EVERYTHING out of the doors, that would be right around 200lbs saved, crazy I know.

This is a very helpful thread, great contribution
Here is my situation:
My car is completely converted to a track car... It belongs to open class sprints & hill-climbs. it is completely stripped (except ac & abs) with engine modifications and a very heavy certified cage (110 pounds).
With full tank & no driver it now weighs 2,918 pounds. My target power to weight ratio per ton is 500. Its now at approx. 440.
In other words the car needs to weigh approx. 2,557 pounds or 361 pounds less
This might be impossible, but getting closer to the target figure will help.
Any advice?

Pull out the dash bar, AC, and all the wiring you don't need going to AC and even the wiring harness from the doors.
Do you have lexan windows?
Also, what about CF hood, trunk, roof, driveshaft?
They are pricey but light.

I am going to be at the track in a few weeks, my goal is to be 3000 with me and 2 gallons of gas, I'll let post up when I go on the scale there.

How much does the ac/heater with all the related components (ducting, wiring controls etc.) weigh? it was not clear in previous posts.
Windows are standard to be replaced with acrylic.
Stripped aluminum roof is light, but I hear that the cf hood is as heavy as standard. If not what brands do you recommend?
cf driveshaft is nice, but too expensive

the CF roof is 10lbs, a steel roof is 26lbs. I think the aluminum roof is around 18lbs.
Stock hood is 18.5 lbs, Robi Spec sells a hood and trunk made by "downforce composits" His hood weighs 11lbs
Stock trunk is 22.5lbs, his Downforce composites trunk is 7lbs.
He charges around $750 for each piece.
