That's what I was thinking... I've seen several evo's with something similar... just wanted to see if someone was selling a kit or something to save some time.

I would like to do carbon for some blingess and its lighter, right ?

Dudi - I will take the shields off and weigh it man. My car has no carpet and sound deadening as you know and the driveshate etc is off.

My downpipe is wrapped to protect TC from heat and may help with the cabin as well. I am thinking my greddy Ti disspiates heat quickly. Of course, mine will not be much of a daily driver....

I thought apexi was the megan and made in the same factory in China or something - there are 3 or 4 coilovers all sourced from the same place.

This is the best Ive seen. I'd love to do this, but not ready to delete A/C or heat yet.

very nice - is this from a thread or do we have any user info? That is exactly what I want to do and add some switches for fan control, tranny cooler (yes, for manual tranny), a gauge or 2 and put my zietronix in there as well...

+1 on more info. Looks nice and I want to put my ZT2 display and a few switches on the panel

BTW: A CF trunk is a good bit lighter than the stock one

If you weigh the shields that would be great as it will help me decide if it is worth it.

I love this never ending quest for weight reduction.....its even more fun than HP hunting, lol.

yes they are all made in the same factory which is why I didn't believe that the apex'i were any lighter, so I bought the megans since they are way cheaper. With that being said david buschur swears they are lighter and I believe what he has tested.

^^ I'd LOVE to have one but too expensive for me. It would be nice to get a lighter roof and delete the sunroof at the same time tho!

Right now, I have a gaping hole - kinda like Jenna Jameson's azz.....LOL. I will block it with a rivetted CF plate for now and eventually get AMS roof this fall. I am saving for it

I wonder if you really need them. I know that the floor already gets hot if you are WOT for a while, I wonder if you would melt the carpet or something worse if you got rid of them. What do you think is the worst that could happen?
I took those off both my cars when I switched to catless exhaust. Very easy and I am thinking only about 2 pounds, but its very thin. Looks heavy still mounted though. What I saved there, I added back on with undercoating. Oh well.

GreddyEvo - Do you need undercoating if you remove it or something?

evodan - any negative effects from removing the shield---too much heat or something like that?
